• KoRn... unplugged?

It's funny... a long time ago I used to joke about what KoRn would sound performing an unplugged set...

They actually DID film a performance for MTV's Unplugged series...

They have guests on there such as Amy Lee of Evanescence (performing Freak On A Leash) and Robert Smith of The Cure (performing Make Me Mad).

I really don't know... I mean, Robert Smith singing with Make Me Mad? I don't think I like it.

I like korn, and I like The Cure, but this just doesn't tickle my pickle or float my boat. :-P

Where the hell is their drummer David anyway?

I heard the Freak on a Leash song, wasn't impressed. I don't think that their music is really unplugged material.

Also, isn't the song Make me Bad?
You kill one man, your a murderer
Kill many and your a conquerer
Kill them all... your a God.

I'm not actually a big fan of Korn, but put Amy Lee in any song and I'm going to like it.

It was bad enough Alice in Chains did unplugged. I think unplugged=end of career.

The Alice in Chains Unplugged kicked ass, though. I've played that disc weekly since I bought it when it came out years ago. Alice in Chains' material translated well to an Unplugged show, in my opinion, with the harmonies and all that...

Korn, on the other hand, was awful. Their music is just not meant to be played acoustically...with all the downtuning and discordancy. The duet with Amy Lee was okay, and I liked the way her voice harmonized with Jon Davis' (which surprised me actually)...but the rest of the band wasn't so great. It was just too muddled. The Staind performance suffered in a lot of the same ways..."Been a While" from that disc is the only track where there's any definition in the individual instruments...the downtuning really screws it up.

Actually, I haven't really liked Korn since Issues. They really fell off at that point, for me...pretty much the only track I've liked since then was the one from the Tomb Raider soundtrack (can't remember the name). Their first album ruled, though ^^

Anyways...just my 2 cents ^^
I'm a slow motion accident, lost in coffee rings and fingerprints...

I actually LOVED the AIC Unplugged. I played that disc so many times. I love how "Down In A Hole" turned out...

Did anyone see KoRn on Jay Leno a couple of nights ago? I think they are trying too hard to "be different" and are using so many musicians in their acoustic stuff, which doesn't turn out so well. Whatever happened to using the band's musician's, and NO ONE else? They had abotu 30+ people during Jay Leno's set.

I just looked up the playlist for AIC Unplugged. They did right songs for that. It has been so long that I forgot what they played on that show. I am just glad they did't' do Would? or Them Bones. Another reason why I love my Sirius is that they play AIC that you would have never heard on regular ass radio.
Thanks Kazuki.

Well I fail as an AIC fan and as a reader. Thanks for the info.

Yeah, when you cover something, you're kinda supposed to put your own stamp on it. To underperform the song, to sink below the level of melancholy of the original... its just not terribly impressive.

Granted there's been covers butchered by bands, but at least they were trying something different with a song.

True, and I am not trying to put down "covers" down at all. There are MANY covers out there that I do like.

KoRn version of Lowrider was sweet, bagpipes and Head singing instead of Jon.

Korn...who cares? They went down hill after a while, thinks mostly to their 'brothers' Limp Bizkit or whatever it use to be spelled like.

Very few (alt) rock bands can pull off acoustic well. AIC and Nirvana both did very well with their MTVU appearances. Staind did well with 'Outside' but I doubt they could pull off a full acoustic show. Are they still around anyway? I think the best band from that era as far as blending acoustic/'hard' rock was the Smashing Pumpkins. Then again, I think that was more due to Billy Corgan's manic bi-polarism then anything else.

I actually agree with le kitten de bbq again... anything Amy Lee sings sounds good to me. She could probably stand on stage and sing cereal boxes and I'd watch.
