Things from the cartoon I won't miss in the movie,
    1. Megatron being a luger. Ok how does a 20 foot tall robot turn into a handgun? not only that but in some episodes he was a gun the size other Transformers would shoot, like Soundwave and other times he was the size of a gun humans could shoot.
    2. Speaking of Soundwave, he was a 20 foot tall robot that turned into a boombox. Sometimes he was boombox size sometimes he was a giant bombbox. Not just him but his little helper audio casettes a bird a dog and a little man sized robot, again total lack of consistency of scale.

This is known as mass-shifting, and depending on who you ask its an ability the Transformers possessed. Me, I think its a lame plot device XD

I wont bring my thoughts on the classic vs. new debate in here. Instead, I will relate my favorite, typical Transformers plot that would certainly make a successful, moving motion picture:

The episode where Megatron takes apart Optimus and mounts his arm on a tower, where it shoots its gun at everyone.

Walther P.38 to be specific. Though I never been a fan of mass shifting myself, when something works it works and for Megs the P.38 works great, well as far as toys are concerned anyway. Glad mass shifting won't be in the movie though.

Laserbeak = vulture, Rumble = little man and Ravage = Jaguar, not dog. Also, Soundwave was originally supposed to be in this movie, but was writen out due to fan's request. Bay and the people behind this film tried to get a lot of info from fans as to what they wanted in the film, but as fanbases go there was a LOT of dissent on what was and was not acceptable. I think the only real agreed on thing by the fans was having the original VA for Prime come back and do the voice in the movie, which they got.

Also, as far as I'm concerned Prime never looked so good:

I been keepin up a lot with how this movie is shaping up. For the most part it does have everything it needs to be a new story in the Transformers universe. Admitedly, some of the bots look better and more 'classic' then others, but overall it seems like this will be a great film.

The fact is this *IS* a Transformers movie. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's not one. Again, many long time Transformers fans *do* like the way the movie is shaping up.
The only 'point' you made is that this shouldn't be called Transformers because it's different then the original. My point is that *other* people like it, as seen by nearly two pages of positive comments on the trailer and numerous postings on Transformer forums that are much more up to date on news and info then the one you posted. Many long time Transformers fans are excited about the designs and the story and the direction this film is going. And just because you don't like it does not mean it should not be Transformers.
Also, saying it again, there are two pages of people who like the trailer. None of your responses were to them. And comments like this:

read the first page of this thread. you'll find the 'we' you say i am generalizing about. theres plenty of people that are not happy with how the movie is progressing. read the other transformer threads in here and that is your 'we'. dont mistake 'we' for 'all' because it isnt. i dont think i have to explain that but apparently you think 'we' is including you and every single transformer fan around.

if ANYTHING, michael bay is known for the onliner stereotypical bullshit. he is the king of ordinary. all of his movies are predictable and trite. dont blame the originals for being one dimensional given the fact that they were written on 15+ years ago, blame the lackluster, visionless twat that is michael bay.

I read a LOT of Transformers threads on other forums specifically about Transformers and there is just as much, if not more, support for the film then there is against. You stated that a lot of Transformers fans were happy to hear a Transformers live action movie was being made, which is true. You then said when they saw the designs, not differentiating in any way from all the Transfans that were excited about the initial film announcment, that all were 'disgusted' by what they saw. You never differentiated between those who liked the designs or not and instead chose to use an overgeneralized 'our'. If it was bad wording on your part I'll apologize for mentioning it, but your statement made it seem that we as a fanbase were all 'disgusted' by what we saw, which is just not true.

Catch that? I say the original characters were all stereotypical, oneliner type characters, you respond that's what Micheal Bay always does and I respond 'well shouldn't that be good?' He's known for making his characters in the same way the original Transformers acted, bringing it close to how G1 was. Though I really don't know why I should blame Micheal Bay for how the original Transformers Characters were written, he had nothing to do with them.

              Also this:

Had NOTHING AT ALL to do with the previous topic. It was about you insinuating that I didn't care about Transformers. Or more specifically your backhanded comments as seen here:

Which I responded to in a previous post that you seemed to have mostly ignored.

Now it's obvious you have some sort of problem with me and that's all fine and dandy, just use your block button and be done with it. But you responded to me first and I responded back to answer your question. My original posts were done for no other reason then to shed some insight as to why Hasbro, the company who owns the Transformers in every way shape and form, *chose* to take the film in the direction that it is going. You responded to my reply with sarcasm and this entire conversation has been going downhill ever since. Now since you seem to be able to reply to me without a hostile and sarcastic tone, for whatever reason, I again suggest you just block me and do us both a favor.

Agreed. That and "It's Prime Time," sounds too close to a MMPR rip. Also bit iffy on that "You're on the wrong side of that blaster to champion that, Decepticon." Everything else, good

Well I think only the first line is 100% going to be in the film with the two runners up having a *chance* to be in the film and the rest won't go any further then they've already done. So it more or less means the Freedom line and 'Lets roll out' will be in the film.

Also of note, a lot of proto shots of the toys have been surfacing lately. Most look pretty decent, though only bear a passing resemblence to their movie counterparts and end up having a more 'classic' look to them as expected. It's most likely due to the fact that they've all been protos of the lower price point, smaller scale figures though. I will say though that all the car alt modes I've seen look absolutely spot on in terms of detail.
