    Re: Battlestar Galactica *spoilers within*

It'd be kinda funny if the 5th was the Lesbion Lady Admiral of the Pegasus, I forgets all of the names of all them characters. LOL Why couldnt' they just have numbers like the cylons, makes things easier.

Oh and did anyone notice if there was a moon around Earth? In any of the episodes? Or on the star charts starbuck was using? If it didn't have a moon, then it could be possible they might be tying it in with the Old BSG.

I watched season 1-2, missed season 3, and picked back up on season 4-5. Last two seasons were some of the best ones.

ONE will be Revealed...kinda like "Save the cheerleader, Save the World" woot.

I thought the classic BSG Earth ended up being 1970's-80's Earth.

Found some info about the future of BSG

It's also possible that the two-hour Caprica pilot will be aired this fall to help ease the wait for fans. What's more, as many as three two-hour, straight-to-DVD movies (a la Razor) are in the early planning stages with Sci-Fi and NBC Universal. Word is they're dependent on negotiating cast involvement, but I'll tell you what... even if NONE of the regular cast sign on for these (or if they're too expensive), what I'd PERSONALLY love to see is the adventures of young Bill Adama during the first Cylon War. We caught a brief glimpse of it in Razor, and I think fans of the show would really dig seeing more of that era. By the way, our pal Mojo from the Battlestar FX department has talked about the show on his blog this past week (here and here - you can even vote for what you'd like to see in these Battlestar DVD movies). Do check it out.

If you're dvr'ing it, be aware thats its supposed to run 3.5 minutes long, so you may need to adjust the recording time to make sure you get it all.

I went home for lunch, and atleast on the guide my tv goes by they already had the allotted time set to go until 10:04.
Fun part is I hate watching anything live anymore, so I'll probably wait until 9:30 or thereabouts to start watching it. The more I use the dvr the more I hate commercials.

                  Re: Battlestar Galactica *spoilers within*

So, thoughts on last nights premiere?
Some of mine (screw spoiler tags, the title says it):
Helen being the 5th seems too easy. Only reason I believe she was the 5th is after it was over when showing the preview of next week, it said you know who the 5th is yada yada, now the revolution, etc. I was expecting something more spectacular than "oh yeah, 5th has been dead since mid-season 3."
Atleast they explained how the hell the 4 knew Hendrix. I thought it was cool that they knew All Along the Watchtower, but it didn't really make sense.

Obvious stuff they still have to explain: If Starbuck isn't a cylon, how did her Viper crash and she survive? Who's body is in the wreckage and how did she get a brand new one, especially without remembering any of it?
What happened to the 5 for 2k years? How do they not remember being cylons? Why were only those 5 resurrected and put on Caprica? And apparently, atleast in Tigh's and Helen's case, resurrected as younger versions of themselves.
Does Hera still have some important significance/fate that the cylons are planning? They haven't really talked about her in that way since season 3.

Also, how the fk did Baltar survive the nuclear blast back in the original mini-series? They've yet to explain that, and the longer it goes the more it looks like they never will.
I'm wondering if the 5 don't have the same weakness to radiation that the original 7 do. I don't recall them acting especially ill in the mini-series when they're in that nebula with the arms cache. (Not really relevant, I know, but the fact that there was faint radiation on Earth just made me think of it).
How the hell was it not written that the 13th tribe were human cylons? Is it possible that they originally weren't and they did make cylons that took over and virtually wiped out the humans, who then made human cylons to populate the Earth, and the nuclear apocalypse was a result of a fight between a few remaining humans and the cylons?

Oh well, 9 more eps to go.

                    Re: Battlestar Galactica *spoilers within*

Well, I think it's a bit more sureal(sp?) than what they are leading on.

This is what I think can explain the whole Starbuck thing...

Ok, we know the Cyclon Humans are human bodies, with modifications, that house their "Program"...now if Helen is in deed the true 5th, for all we know Sal could've lost his mind, *hell he was confusing her with a #5 i think that's the model*, what about Starbuck? Well if the cyclons can make Human bodies...why can't the Humans?

What if...the humans back 2k years ago infact figured out a way to clone a human, and then transfer their mind into the new clone...? Then war breaks out...the surviors move on to make the new 12 colonies. If you notice, they didn't show many of the faces of the other ppl in his flashback.

As for where the 5 were, maybe a few "human" clone facilites still work, and made them 5 and they "maybe knowing where they were going to head when the war broke out" managed to make there way there.

If that is true, then some of their memories could've been damaged....all they know is where they should go. It'd be funny if every human is a human clone and they are "alive" in a cavern on earth or something. Well escept the childern...that they made by sex...wouldn't fit...but Starbuck had a mum...unless she was just an older Clone of starbuck...meh...

It's what i can see happening, would explain a few things. Then again, the 7 cylons claim the final 5 were made by the 0's or w/ever. Hell if i know i give up. lol

As for Baltar surviving the blast, i thought i was because the cylon took the majority of the blast for him, protecting him. Sure he should have radiation sickness, but who knows.

Well, even if the 13th tribe were human cylons, they very easily could have differentiated into a large population of people that don't look alike over a long while. For all intents and purposes they're basically human, biologically. They have genes and can reproduce. Sexual reproduction could easily account for a fully populated world of people that don't all look alike.

                        Re: Battlestar Galactica *spoilers within*

Ok, first off it's "Ellen" Tigh. I guess you misheard "Helen" and it stuck. I was watching this a few days after it premiered, went to comment on this thread, and had to figure out if I was watching the correct ending or not. Don't do that to me, 1L grades just came out Friday. I'm already unsure if I'm still mostly sane without your help, thank you.

Secondly... spelling and grammar check, please. Gonna hope English is not your first language. If it is... bbbbbbrrrrrrrppppppppprrrrrrrr! *shudders* That just kind of hurt to read. Maybe you're shooting for a particular dialect. Yeah, don't. I did most of the WoTG quest line in Windurst tonight with Kamirah of Diabolos. Nice woman, but uses "fallow" instead of "follow". Her husband is the paladin standing right next to me, and it's taking every fiber of my being not to make jokes about plowing her. It was a nice attempt, but it's not really working. Assume that the words underlined in red when you type are misspelled and fix them.

                        Things I noticed:
                        1. Saul and Ellen are in what looks like a bank. I guess those could be lockers on the wall instead of safety deposit boxes, but it doesn't really look like a bus station. Maybe an airport?
                        2. Tyrol is apparently still in need of glasses despite being a machine. Seems a bit odd to allow near/far sightedness if you're making humanoid replicas and have no need to interact with actual humans later. The glasses would make a good cover if you're infiltrating, but seem a bit out of place otherwise. He's on a Cylon world, why would he need cover?
                        3. Anders is a musician. Apparently a rock musician.
                        4. We still don't know what Tory did, other than she heard Anders play.

At first I was thinking maybe the final 5 were some kind of scientists working on a project. If you had only 12 people working on a project it would make sense that those would be the only 12 to go through the whole download/resurrection process. They could've built the resurrection process, they could be the only 12 who knew about it and were on file. The problem is the jobs don't fit. Tyrol kind of looks scholarly, Tigh and Ellen could be project leads or benefactors... but the whole analogy breaks as soon as I get to the musician and the whatever the hell Tory is... It's like the one crazy person on the first few seasons of "The Real World". Here's some people that are about as normal as MTV viewers will ever get, but just for giggles we'll toss in this crazy person.

The 12 cylon models are different that humans, otherwise Baltar couldn't detect them. They ID the remains quickly as being all cylon. Why only 12, though? Twelve models don't do justice to all of humanity. They're not really archetypes. We don't see the faces of people in the flashbacks, but the body types are different than the 12 models so far. Either they got lazy casting extras, or out of a whole cylon world of many different types of people, you saved 12. Again, why those 12?

The 12 we've seen though all died in the holocaust of Earth. They all remember getting nuked so far. That would rule out having them survive the blast in a bunker, or having them all have visited the same place to be put on file and stored. They seem to diverse for that, so far. If they all died, and in different places, what was the common thread that tied these 12 together?

So, the Starbuck thing beats the shit out of me. Not even going to try to figure out that one. Maybe someone else sees the pattern with this mess, I'm confused. My gut, however, is telling me wherever the resurrection site is, it's off-planet. Doesn't make sense for it to be on earth and remain undetected by the cylon scouts. Even if you do put it in a cave. I'm really curious what the moon and mars look like. I have a sneaking suspicion that those are the most likely places to pop 12 cylon models for infiltration, etc.

I'm guessing the spelling thing isn't directed at me?
And my fault with "Helen". She hasn't been around for a couple years and I misheard.
                          1. Yeah, I figured it was a bank, as well. Those definately looked like security deposit boxes.
                          2. Well, if the cylons on earth did start reproducing with eachother sexually, then bad eyesight and other genetic variations were bound to crop up. But if they weren't all there from doing eachother, then yeah, doesn't make any sense.
                          skipping 3
                          4. I'm going with slutty groupie.

See, I had figured that the 5 were from Earth, but the original 7 were separate models that were created by the cylons that were created by the original 12 tribes. I thought that the 7 only knew of the 5 because of their robot religion. Which could explain how they didn't know what they looked like, but wouldn't explain how even though they didn't exist when the 13th tribe left, they still knew about the 5 and that they came from Earth etc. (Though I suppose the same could be said for how the original 12 knew about Earth and what the signs were supposed to be on how to find it.)
I had never thought about them all originally being from Earth, though that does make sense on certain levels.
And Baltar could detect them. He made the thing in the first season and used it on the original Sharon. He found out she was a Cylon but didn't say anything because he was afraid she'd freak and kill him so he told everyone that it didn't work.
I also agree, there's some form of a resurrection platform somewhere, most likely in the solar system.
Like I said, someone put Starbuck in a new Viper and sent her back to the fleet, there has to be a 3rd party out there and I'm really curious who it could be. Survivors from Earth? A group of human-cylon hybrids?

See, that's what's confusing to me. They're essentially bio-mechanical machines. Even if they are reproducing sexually, they understand how to make one another. If you can go in and "turn off" near or far sightedness in the genetic code, why have it around? There are robotic cylons on Earth, so they understand how to build conventional machines. It kind of stands that they'd know how to work out bio-mechanical ones, too.

I mean, eye mutations work for specific instances. Take Color-blindness, for instance. If you're a predator, this is one of the best adaptations you can have. My grandfather was gunner on a tank in WWII for this reason. Camouflage doesn't work if you can't see in color. For Grandpa, the german tanks were always "right over there". Near-sightedness is an advantage if you do all your work in a computer or book oriented world. You never have to see past this point. Far sightedness is the same if you're a pilot or a scout for an army.

Whatever Tyrol's job was, it required him to spend at least part of the day out of the building. He's got a sweater on, and he's not wearing a uniform or the like. He's gotta go somewhere it gets cold and he's exposed to the elements. If that's the case, it seems like less than half his day is spent in-doors looking at a screen or book. Why leave his eyes like that, then? Doesn't make sense if you can fix the problem like a mechanic would.

I'll agree its highly probable that they had the understanding and technology to weed out those genetic imperfections. Right now, assuming that what they think now, that the 13th tribe were in fact cylons, then I really think it was an aesthetic choice the director or whoever made and didn't think it all the way through. If thats NOT the case and it was intentional, then I'd think it was possible that the cylons, wanting to be more human, allowed those genetic imperfections to creep in because they felt it was the imperfections that made humans what they were.

I've been thinking the last few days. There are only 12 models of cylons and there were 12 tribes of Kobol. But, there was the lost 13th tribe. I'm wondering if there won't end up being some FINAL 13th cylon model that appears near the end of the series and fills in the final blank spots.
