I thought a long haired Kyle McLaughlan or maybe even John Travolta might pull off Laguna (present day)....

Been a while since I've seen Travolta acting, but he might be able to pull it off. His face is a bit too wide, but I'm more concerned with acting capability than looks. I don't recall ever seeing Kyle McLaughlan in a movie, so I couldn't comment on that.
