I just saw TMR last night at Otakon and OMG he and his band were awesome! The concert was so full of energy and he was so excited to play in the US for the first time. He was hawt too.

The first Japanese bands I liked were Oblivion Dust, Judy & Mary and Cocco. All have given up/split now. Fake? was started by Ken Lloyd from O.D. and has now reached the same quality that O.D. used to be. Judy & Mary's lead singer Yuki is soloing now and is nowhere near as good. Cocco has given up completely because she is psychotic

I also like Sheena Ringo, the brilliant green, Mad Capsule Markets, Ken Ishii, Joujouka, Kick the Can Crew, DJ Hasebe, Globe, Supercar, Spitz, Towa Tei, hyde, hikki, Yoko Kanno and Yaiko ?ô

Hmm i really don't know jack about any JP groups but i do listen to P5 and Fantastic Plastic Machine. . . niether is J-rock or J-pop but they're japanese >.> lol it's mainly electronica music.

I'd say pillows but the only half-way decent thing they did was FLCL. I can't stand anything they've done outside the series...and I'm not that big a fan of j-pop to begin with.

I'm not a fan of J Rock or J Pop (though I love Puffy AmiYumi), but Japanese ska has a place in my heart with bands like:

j-pop has it's place in the world, but other than anime songs, it's not anywhere near where i live
