Y'know, of all the reactions I would've expected, that was not one of them . -.-;

I actually prefer the English version. Maybe it's just the bias of hearing it right before watching Ruroni Kenshin on the TV in my earlier years, but to me, the very end and especially the very beginning of the Japanese version sound like an absolute mess (any complaints about stuff in the middle I can just write away to pure bias, though - they arguably sound very much the same).

I don't like the quality of the English singer's voice on the higher notes, and the shoehorning of the translated lyrics into the original pitch and cadence just doesn't quite work. And I heard the Japanese version some hundred times before hearing the English.
