I'm not sure if you'd like any of it but I hope it's not too terrible; maybe it's also just a reason for me to post a list of what cool tunes I listen to.
The Number 12 Looks Like You (Yes that is the name of the band)
Where I live,(Jersey) almost every upcoming band is another emo band,(I do like emo, but it's cool to hear different stuff) and these guys have managed to grow popular although they're a metal band. The singing (Screaming?) might annoy you, but they ain't half bad at playing their guitars and shit. Check them out at www.purevolume.com

Like rap, I really like rap, but I don't want to hear about the stereotypical rap stuff, like sex, cars, shoes, you know.
Yeah, "raps" gone that route, and I'm not happy about it either.
But check out Taleb Kwali, Black Star (Taleb Kwali & Mos Def), Common (Be is a great album.), and of course there's Gangstarr. Check those out, I've gotten a lot of enjoyment out of them.
I'm a big fan of Linkin Park, and Maroon 5 has it's moments where it just fits the mood. But I listen to a lot of Marvin Gaye and Al Green. Can never go wrong there!
Haven't checked this thread in a while and I come back to hear somebody say Led Zeppelin is overrated!! There is a difference between overrated and overplayed. I wish they'd stop using their songs in all the damn car commercials nowadays, it does take away from the "uniqueness" from their sound. Getting a song overplayed has a way of doing that to you, but make no mistake, Led Zepp is one of the best bands of all time...please give them the credit they deserve.

Wham!
In the moonlight, your face it glows.. like a thousand diamonds, I suppose.
And your hair flows like.. The ocean breeze...
Not a million fights could make me hate you, you’re invincible. Yeah, It’s true.
It’s in your eyes, where I find peace.

Mars Volta? I tried, bought a live album of theirs. Thing that got me, was that there was virtually no lyrics. Nearly all instrumental. Is that how all their music is? They reminded me a lot of Zep, only with less talent (sorry but noone can compare to Zep).
Anyone ever heard Monte Montgomery?
