      Anyone ever heard Monte Montgomery?
      Oh no you didn't.

For those that are looking for something new, but related to what they already like, I recently got turned on to an interesting internet site:

        http://www.pandora.com

Pandora is an internet musical genre research site, and the way it works is that you provide at least one song or musical artist, and if it's anywhere in their (quite large) library, they'll build a whole "radio station" for you based on that artist or song.

The songs that are chosen (streamed) for you have musical qualities which resemble your chosen artist/song. You can "expand" a radio station by adding more songs and/or artists.

In addition to the ability to choose artists or songs, you can vote on any song that is currently playing by clicking it's image and voting "I like this" or "I don't like this" - giving an "I don't like this" vote bans the song from that radio station and reduces the chance of similar songs appearing, while voting "I like this" makes it more likely that similar songs will appear on the playlist.

Check it out if you're in a musical rut. I've discovered some fascinating new music, and got a fresh look at some artists that I'd previously overlooked because of this.

But check out Taleb Kwali, Black Star (Taleb Kwali & Mos Def), Common (Be is a great album.), and of course there's Gangstarr. Check those out, I've gotten a lot of enjoyment out of them.
Listen to tdh, he has an excellent taste in Hip Hop. I'll provide an additional list of great rap artists that haven't been mentioned.

          A Tribe Called Quest
          De La Soul
          Boogie Down Productions
          Nas
          Cormega
          Kanye West
          GZA/Genius
          The Roots
          Blackalicious
          Jurassic 5
          Tupac
          KRS-One

This is just a list composed from the top of my head. Good Hip Hop is out there, but for some reason, the bullshit that they play on BET has gone main stream, and the artists with actual talent slip through the cracks.

I use pandora, its really great. i run several stations at once and bounce back and forth through them throughout my workday. I even hear music i've never heard before but stuff i end up liking.
