the spirits within was the dumbest movie ever i felt like it had nothing to do with any of the final fantasys there is no summons no magic and the only weapon they use is guns.....

that's exactly my explanation of the reasons why people hate the spirits within. But even though it has nothing to do with final fantasy, the movie is still great!

Okay, to the one person who voted for X: it already practically IS a movie!

To all the people who voted for VII: God help us. Now you want a movie too? I thought you were all waiting for a FF VII-2 sequel game... *watches the fanboys start drooling at the mere possibility of it*

I think making a movie out of an existing game is a bad idea, and I'm pretty sure Square KNOWS it's a bad idea. We won't be seeing another full length movie out of them for a loooong time, if ever. When/if that happens, I really do hope it's an original movie. And I really hope they create an actual fantasy world as the setting if they're going to call it a Final Fantasy movie. If they end up making a game based on that movie (FF XIII?) they could make it a sequel, or a continuation of the story in some way, instead of following the actual plot of the movie.

That said: I think I see what they were going for with The Spirits Within. They thought a fantasy world wouldn't appeal to the general public (a fair assumption at the time, cause sci fi was more popular and the LOTR movies hadn't yet come out to capture the public's imagination with fantasy), so they created their Final Fantasy: Earth. It had to conform to the reality of earth but still keep the themes of FF-stories (as one reviewer said, "Square's new-age Save-the-Planet bullshit"). Too bad... it didn't work out that well for them = probably no more movies for us!
Day Three: I look good when I run!
Day Four: I also look good standing still. Running across Riddermark v. good excercise. I swear my butt has just gotten firmer. Is that even possible?
Day Six: Is Gimli staring at my butt?
Day Seven: No wonder he's always lagging behind.

I would of voted "None of them" but I voted for FFX , i don't care if it was close to a movie already it'd still be cool.
I hope they never make one for FFVII , mainly cause it would be about Cloud finding his true self.. Boy was that boring to play and hours waste of time of talking to Cloud's inner persons.

I'd rather see "The Bouncer" as a movie then the Final Fantasy series , even though you watched a lot of Bouncer , it was still cool.

          hm, hard choice.

To me, VII was the best FF game. If there was one movie incarnation tho, i'd have to go with X. I think it had the best story.

yeah madme kinda messed up and forgot the 'other squaresoft games' or 'an original movie' options.

and btw, i HAVE heard that there was a small possibility of square REMAKING ff VII and ff VIII, but a sequel? never heard of it yet. I do hope so, but then again...what would there be to sequel...sephy's dead, cloud most likely already found his true self...nope, won't work.

I would choose FFX too. In my opinion, FFX had a very good storyline... very captivating and touching too :spin:

Madme, i suggest you try PM'ing him or something like that. Or you could just leave the 'other' option out alltogether and make another poll about this when this thread has died.

It is hard for them to make a movie with as a good a story line as the ff series.. for one in a game you get like 40+ hours to develop story and characters.. in a movie you get an hour an a half or so.. it's really quite hard.. but they could still come up with something cool.. or make it like a 3 part series like the lord of the rings

a 3 part series like the lord of the rings would be perfect, if they have such a great fantasy-like storyline (based on one of the games, or something similar to those story's but new) i'f love to see a "Lord of the Fantasies"

yeah, but that really couldnt work, because most of what you do in FF games is level up... so, i dont think square could stretch out any storyline to full-movie length (unless you're talkin about FFX, because that game was basically a movie already :p )

Seroth, since an interview with Yoshinori Kitase and another Square representative, everyone has been going mad saying that there will be an FFVII sequel. This is entirely false. In response to one of the questions, Kitase-san stated that he would like to see a sequel to FFVII, and like many other Square employees, would enjoy working on it, but does not see it to be quite likely as it would require a huge amount of work, and it would be hard to create a follow-up to something so hugely popular and widely loved by their fans. He merely stated that he would like to work on it. Since then, everyone has been passing false rumours and crap about an "FFVII-2". It's not gonna happen, people! :spin:

like I said, it won't work. The only possible option to please the fans is just to remake it (same story, same characters, renewed graphics, better fmv's)..maybe adding some new sidequests...but that's it...a sequel WON'T WORK!
