but rap is in trouble
there r a lot of phonies tryin to be on the mic swearing to things that arent even their lifestyle
its one thing when ur a rapper like Nas who writes about stuff he saw outside his window into the street
but for a rapper to come out of a good quiet town, to have never endured the things that others have and to use that as their style is just plain wrong
i think up and coming rappers and a lot who are in the industry just need to be themselves and not try to be a Jay-Z or 50 cent just because they think its cool or itll earn them respect
thats why i still give respect to rappers like Busta Rhymes, Nelly, Outkast, sometimes Ja Rule(only when hes dissin 50) because they rap about their own truths, which for the most part is having fun and love etc.
ehhh now im getting off topic...im not trying to change anyones views or tell anyone how to write or listen to their music, just giving what i think, i can go on days upon days but ill spare u

Grand Master Flash and the Furius Five, Curtis Blow (the breaks), Kool Moe Dee. . . on n on but as far as today's rap scene? gyuhh utter shyt imo - each song has a fairly different beat - i'll give it that, but all the lyrics revolve around the same shyt. i mean don't they get tired about talking about their car rims? who phokin cares? I'm a fan of Hip-Hop not rap. imma admit i'm more of a "techno" kinda guy, being a huge house head, trance, dNb, acid jazz fan but i'll catch myself listening to Aesop Rock and other fairly underground hip-hopsters.

And just so yall know there is a big diff between hip hop and rap. Rap is more hardcore, such as twista. and hip hop is that R&B mixed with rap, like puffy's dumb crap. Its easily seperated.

I love rap, its the main thing i listen to, i do listen to some pure R&B and a lot of hip hop when listenin to the radio in portland, OR.

Lol BET is so fruity now - about 5 years ago it use to be good. now they censor their songs even more than MTV does. "but they have that late night thing" pfff still fruity. and half of the "black" hosts for the shows like "tigger" of the basement act more white than i am XD I'll agree with you on that it is better than MTV for the fact that the play list is more broken up and they -ahem- show the entire video. but i'd say MTV2 and Much Music (now known as Fuse in the sates) is a lot better than BET. Not only do they play more, censor less, they play a lot more "underground" choices. [even tho if it's truely "underground" it's not gona be on cable TV lol]
