    Well, there's:

    Prodigy
    Chrystal Method
    Paul Oakenfold
    Keoki
    Propellorheads
    Headrillaz
    Chemical Brothers
    Fat Boy Slim
    Renegade Soundwave
    Daft Punk
    Underworld
    Rabbit in the Moon
    Deep Sky

My husband listed most of those for me . I'm particularly fond of Keoki.

If you want something closer to rap there's the X-ecutioners whose music is done entirely with turntables and a little rap here and there. They're amazing in a live show too .

It all depends on the type of techno you want....for trance/dance I reccommend Paul Oakenfold (or anything under his new label, Perfecto) but for Drum&Bass, my personal favorite, I reccommend Dieselboy. If you are gonna get a Dieselboy album, get his latest--projectHUMAN. It's....amazing.....and the bonus disc that comes with it is sick too. I pretty much only listen to those two types of techno....so I cant really reccommend anybody for House or Chillout. Remember though....Dieselboy projectHUMAN......

Sometimes, it's darkest just before dawn

If you like Sandstorm, check out an album called Trancemania 2. Chances are you won't find it at your local CD store, probably have to order from http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/ The work on there is amazing... that's all I can really say.

hmm if you liked sandstorm you should check out the single called 7 ways i think it's called (it like sandstorm is now a couple years old) it's by none other than Darude and Js16 (the js16 may have changed or vary depending what country you live in. but it has a similiar feel to it- at first you may be like oh it's not as good as sandstorm but it ranks up there with it - honestly.

hmm seeing that you're a "rap guy" you're probably into "techno" for it's beats. so imma say you should lean more towards hard house or drum'n'bass. Hard house is sort of what you hear at many non-hip-hop or rap type clubs. drum'n'bass can very from very heavy hitting to very technical use of trebel. but since again you are more into rap i'm thinking you may like HardHouse more as it tends to have more lyrics. . . or as much as any techno genre has other than say euro dance.

as far as artists for Hard House - the heavy hitters (more commonly found in music stores) My fave (even though he's "sold out" "over popular" piss off he's still my fave) Bad Boy Bill. Richard Humpty Vission (who is compared to BadBoyBill and vise versa). D.J. Irene (ok she may be dikish. . lol sorry no offense to anyone but it's common knowledge, she cuts some great club tracks and remixes[from what i've heard that is] DJ Bam Bam (havn't heard much of his but i know he's big amoung hard house. any way those are a few. hate to say this i'm not trying ot detour you from DLing their music but most of their good stuff isn't even on kazaa or any other site >< most of their best songs just come from their CDs. my fave Bad Boy Bill CD may be hmm Bangin' in London. and Richard Humpty Vissions "Shut the F*** Up and Dance" is a steller classic.

but yeah if you find a particular genre you like let us know and i'll try to help you out with recomendations - but you'll find that you may like many genres and artists like myself and will just end up discovering what you like on your own.

::EDIT:: ohi the song is called 19 nine ways by Darude Vs. JS16. lol sorry had forgot -.- you helped remind me of one of my old classics i really enjoyed thanks =D but yeah not just Lopez i think others should check this song out if they too liked the classic "sandstorm." i guess it is different but i know many kids who don't like "techno" whom like this song.
::EDIT YET AGAIN:: sorry i tried to find it on kazaa to make sure it's out there. . and it is but kazaas search can be so fruity at times. i found it under searching for artist -> js16 = 19 nine ways. i also found the same song but it was just titled nine ways.

I know i love Underworlds single "Two Months Off" but how's the rest of his album? i was about to pick it up yesterday but was hesitant. and what type of music is Renegade Soundwave? i keep hearing this name pop up but shamfully i don't know =\
lol and lastly i see a gang of Keoki's CDs each time i go to the store but have never ( to my knowledge heard his stuff) >< i may have to check him out now.
            -thanks in advance-

Darude is a TRANCE dj, not techno....

              Mauro Picotto
              Joy Kitinconti
              Deep DIsh
              Joe T Vanelli
              Timo Maas
              Orbital
              Ministry sound of London
              Benny Benassi
              Bob Sinclar

Check the charts of music on this site (i reccomend the "Suburbia CHart" or the "VH - Massima Caloria"

              www.rin.it

if u want real TRANCE just look at the "VH-Massiam Caloria" chart and listen up!

Who? What does it matters? Or...do you need a name to describe me? A definition by words is merely a means to deceive oneself. It's meaningless before the truth. What matters is how you perceive things. The slightest shift, then life and death no longer have any meaning.

just because someone uses kazaa, doesnt mean they dont support artists. most of their money doesnt come from cd sales anyways. i use kazaa to get a couple of songs before i buy a cd, to make sure its good. that way im not out $20 on something im going to use now as a frizzibe.

Ughm what are you talking about - there is no genre of "techno" techno now just stands for electronica - techno derived from electronic beats in the early 80s.

Deep Dish = Deep house / Lounge
Timo Mass = Progressive Trance / Hard trance
Bob Sinclair (awsome producer) = Deep House / Disco House / Hard House.

lol i simply said techno to keep it simple. He said he was new to the electronica scene so i went off of what he may know and kept to his liking of Darude. I for one only like 3 of Darude's productions and consider him a cookie cutter DJ lol.

And i totally agree about the kazaa/supporting DJ issue - i DL what i can't buy or what i'm interested in - if the tour or cd is available and i like it -by all means i buy it.

No way, almost in Europe (where i live) techno is still ALIVE and you can listen a genre of music called techno. House and trance are not techno. Techno is just a dance music composed on futuristic sounds that includes a bunch of basses.

                      Real techno:

                      DJ Gio MC-505
                      - Dakar & Grinser - I wanna be your dog
                      - Achilles - Two Achilles in one
                      - Lowfish - No longer accepting complaints
                      - It & My Computer - Sur une cigarette
                      - Hong Kong Counterfeit - Emotion
                      - Legowelt - Geneva hideout
                      - Monkeychop - Outrun cocaine
                      - Doktor Computer - Future heart
                      - Gabe Catanzaro - I wonder why?
                      - Ray Kajioka - Doramu kompyuta
                      - Robert Calvin - Future brain
                      - Mannix - Sequence harmonie (David Carretta remix)
                      - Mick Wills - Stries (update)
                      - Diskopizzeria - Baroness (Marcin Czubala remix)
                      - Orgue Electronique - In aller welt
                      - John Starlight - Shadowbreaker
                      - David Carretta - Spacer
                      - N.O.I.A. - Korowa milk bar
                      - Ural 13 Diktators - Hits not hype (Amiga Rock City mix)
                      - Brighton Mc Kay - Ridin' high (Ural 13 Diktators remix)
                      - Epsilon Minus - 80's boy (Hot Pink)
                      - Dmx Krew - Soul miner

I like european DJs, and I dont listen to particular songs...mainly mixes by these DJs

                          Paul Oakenfold
                          Ferry Corsten/System F
                          Marco V
D:Fuse (Hes from Austin,TX...one of my favorites, hes good and he wears a cowboy hat while spinning)
                          Mauro Picotto
                          Johan Gielen/Svenson & Gielen
                          Paul Van Dyk
Most DJs from the Purple Eye label are good.

Anyway...yes it is important to support the artists, I used to spin the proverbial "wheels of steel" myself and I still buy vinyls from the UK regularly.

Here is an alternative to DLing mp3s...Internet Radio. A very good trance/techno/euro stream can be found here.

Click Listen on the top right of the page. Its a 128kb stream, high quality, broadband is necessary.

BTW, there are many sub-categories of Electronic music (such as jungle, drum & bass, goa, gabber, happy hardcore, trance, house, dance, techno, etc)...hes new to "techno" music, so dont make such a big deal if he calls it "techno" music.

When you go to a music store and you want say a Mick Willis CD - you look under their "techno" section. You want Gene Farris "Techno". Bad Boy Bill "techno" it's just a word used to summarize electronica as a whole. I'm not wanting to pick a fight and i see you get the term techno so confused with how radio and television use it, but honest, i'm not just saying this to contradict you - if anything i like to agree with people. And anything you listen to that truely deserves the title of being "techno" should sound like heavy old 80's beats with over use of synth and choppy drumb machines lol.

I understand if you don't like it or it's too "poppy" for you but regardless it paved the way for many listeners today and many of the songs can be found on other artists albums. only problem is if they were such a good group of producers and sold so many CDs worldwide where's a follow up album >.>
