ughh "an embarrasment to a race..."
why the fuck does it have to represent my whole fucking race
    its music and that's it
forget the fact that most rappers you see on MTV and BET are dark skinned
listen to some music that isnt popular and you'll find different skin tones if that's what you're looking for,
there's people talking about love if that's what you're looking for
there's muh-f-ers talking about shrubbery if that's what you're looking for too!
you know that's only if you're willing to prove your own self wrong, or to be open minded
if it wasnt for rap you wouldn't know what the fuck you like

Most rap is about stuff like ghettos and guns and drugs and everything like that. What do you expect people to rap about? seriously though... when you think about it, thats where they were brought up you can't expect them to be rapping about flowers and rainbows when their best friend is caught up in a drive-by. I know of many rap groups and rappers that don't bother rapping about stuff like Jurrasic 5, Classified, Planet Asia, Non-Phixion, Sebutones, Royce Da 5'9, slug, son of ran, i can't even name them all there are so many talented people out there that rap, most people steriotype all rap as being negative, you probly haven't even heard any of the good stuff. All of the rap that you would be hearing is all of the pop rap. There are 2 types of rap, pop rap and underground rap. Pop rap would be your typical G-unit / 50 cent, P diddy and all of them. There are the other rappers and groups that no one hears but the true rap/hip hop fans, and those are where the real talent lies. I bet none of you could rhyme the way that these people do, its really amazing what some people can make sense of in their songs. As for metal / rock i have respect for the artists, and i will not diss what peoples music tastes, but i think that someone rapping poeticly and making sense is a lot better than someone screaming into a microphone to incredibly distorted guitar. I've listened to rap and hip hop since i was in grade 4-5 and loved it since, i still uncover new artists and groups that i love. Thats just my 2 cents

          shrubbery... rap....

          ROFL

it would be a bestseller tho, seriously

And now my brain has something like the Spinal Tap Stonehenge scene with bling-bling and tall grass and scantily clad women trimming hedges stuck in it.

And since when did "Ghettos" become "cool".

Arent they a deprived segment of humanity where crime is rampant and sanitary conditions are poor?

In my opinion, every "ganster" type faggot should executed... But thats just me!

Oh and as for 50 Cent "Waaa I got shot in the face" - Like I care

And Eminem just bitches about his traumatic childhood. Well, he can go suck a fat one, because I for one am sick of hearing it.

Rap iz tha best shit ya know!

Rap takes skill and imagination to have tha words jus come sprayin' outta yur mouth.

It jus Sprays and sprays in particular ways and stays in yur head for days and days.

Besides freestylin' iz one of my favorite things to do with my time. Besides u don't gotta be black to rap, and living in the ghetto ain't pimp, livin' in a rich neighborhood is.

Hmmm…ppl why are u whining over rap being offensive? If u find this type of music offensive, obscene and distasteful don’t listen to it. No one is making u listen to it, turn it! Stop moaning about it being offensive because of profanity that is used or what they are rapping about. Most of u doesn’t know what ur talking about; just want to bash the genre because ya don’t like it.

Anyway I don’t find it offensive, I love rap and always will. Yes there are artist I don’t like such as 50 cent. Some good rap artists I like are Twista, Do or Die, Bone Thugs, 2 Pac, Snoop Dog, Dr. Dre, Tribe Called Quest, E-40, Three 6 Mafia and more.

Well that’s my two cents, if u don’t like it blow it out ur ass.

Errrr.... XD I am an old geezer , I remember when rap was offensive at first , then it got Clean up in 1997 and stuff and now it back to the way it was in 1988-1992. Remember the orginal offensive people that had songs like "Cop Killer" among others.

To me, Rap just got back to the way it was before 1993-2001 happened. It all good. So people can relate to rap, some related to country, but so long as it is pleasing to my ears, I'll deal.

                        my two cents

I'm gonna have to get with BigMike on this one

most of the "rappers" mentioned in this thread are not even considered real in the real hip hop scene

I'm sorry but what you see on MTV & BET is not really rap its mainstream pop/rap

go listen to CVE , Hiero , Kool Keith<(you think mainstream shit is offensive listen to him) , anyone involved in project blowed , living legends , OMD , and the list goes on and on

soo much good hip hop out there and everyone thinks that crap on TV is what represents hip hop

oh yeah Cradle of Filth are sellouts:spin:

ps. to the one who said hip hop takes no talent, go make a beat put some lyrics on it and then tell me it takes no talent (I mean good ones too)

                            Re: RAP offensive?

'REAL RAP' (Underground Rap) is offensive, thats why it doesn't get any mainstream attention.
The rap people watch on MTV is a comodity; not offensive.
You can be a king or a street sweeper, but everyone dances with the Grim Reaper......

                              Re: RAP offensive?

Wow, I don't think i've even seen so many biased half-assed opinions on a subject that people don't know about.

Hip Hop/Rap is no more offensive than any other genre of music can be. Hell, I could pick an emo rock group, like My Chemical Romance, The Used, or Funeral For a Friend or Marylin Manson, Slayer, and make a broad generalization that rock is all about whining about why my life sucks and how I cut my self at night, and worshiping the devil.

However, that would be wrong because i'm focusing on one aspect of rock and using that to define the entrie genre, which people seem to be quick to do with Hip Hop.

Yes, unfortunatley, these days is a bad time for Rap. I'm one of the biggest Hip Hop fans you'll ever meet, and even I know that the majority of mainstream hip hop these days is bullshit. Not that all "gangster" rap is bad, 2pac was gangster rap, but he was a highly intelligent and deep poet. These days, all you need is a beat, throw in some lyrics about killing, slapping some bitch on the ass, and you've got a multimillion album on your hands. But that is not what REAL Hip Hop/Rap is about. Hip Hop can inspire thought, and be positive and intelligent, you just have to know what artists to listen to.

This is a list of a few Hip Hop artists that I recommend if you want to experience true Hip Hop:

                              2pac
                              Nas
                              Kanye West
                              Blackalicious
                              Common
                              De La Soul
                              Talib Kweli
                              The Roots
                              Brand Nubian
                              Hi-Tek
                              Mos Def
                              Jurrasic 5
                              Wu-Tang Clan
                              GZA/Genius
                              Tribe Called Quest
                              Boogie Down Productions
                              KRS ONE

These are just couple in a list of many; Mainstream and Underground. Good Hip Hop is out there, you just have to look beyond what you see on MTV to find it.
