Nope. The creators of Google do the same thing. I was told it's to avoid paying taxes, since they're pretty much going to be rich from the stock they own alone. Wikipedia seems to support this.

They're not avoiding anything. You can't get taxed for money you didn't make. That's like saying that not putting stuff up on the AH is shady because you're avoiding the tax.

What is there to hate about macs and ipods and ipads and iphones? Unless you like, really hate the AppleTV or something. Maybe the product isn't for you, but at the end of the day, what does that even matter? Who cares?

He got paid $1 every year because he didn't need a larger salary due to his stock options. He worked as CEO for Apple because he loved the job. It's not shady at all. He already had a shit ton of money. He didn't want any more. Why do you think he should have been taxed more or made more so that he could be taxed? What's the point of that?

EDIT: Ah, that's where that figure came from. That's how much he owned in Apple Stocks. I was under the impression (from numerous sources) that he was getting paid that much, because after he left apple they tanked - and as part of getting him back, they had to pay him an insane amount of money.

Same here. Every time I hear of some one dying that I never knew, or cared about, yet a lot of people are mourning about it.

I don't know much about him but from what I've ready about his journey through illness in the past few hours.
He seems like a tough cookie and should be respected for his determination and will to continue his work, When so many would have just given in.
I've seen many lose hope at the first hurdle and seems like life gave him an assault course to run.

Nobody's saying anyone has to be sad, but the time of someone's passing is a good time to reflect on what qualities and behaviors they had that are worth emulating in one's own life. Honoring the dead is one way we glorify life, and part of what makes humans special.
