Powerbutton not working ; ;

If you need any exact specs on my computer, I’ll have to write them down and post tomorrow but has anyone had an issue with power buttons flat out stop working?
I don’t know a ton about computers so ill explain as best I can.

Somewhat recently (maybe past 2 weeks or so) I’ve noticed a fan in my computer would either turn on or just get louder for 30 seconds or so every 10+ minutes maybe.

Yesterday I turned it off before work and when I got home, nothing was happening when I hit the power button. Nothing…I previously turned it off as I’ve always been told (going to start menu/shut down). But now I cant get it on.

It’s a dell computer and on the back, there’s green light that does light up when the power cord is attached.

Any suggestions on what I might need to do?

You hit the button and nothing happens, right?

Unless you opened it and knocked the cables loose, it sounds like your power supply died. It's getting standby power, but not enough to actually boot.

Kinda hard to pinpoint without more info.

My first guess would be to check out the power supply and see if swapping it out fixes the problem.

i think a few responses were lost from the other day, but wanted to say thanks again for the info.

Anyway...picked up a new PSU. putting it in in a couple hours

pray for me...withdrawal is not fun

Ok, on my phone atm. Computer boots up so it was the power but now I get stuck at a screen tjat saus

No boot device available

any ideas. Pretty sure everythimg is connected the same way

I believe it can't find your HDD. Either it became unplugged, or it's no long primary boot device, which is a setting in the BIOS.

actually disregard that last post. one of the plugs wasnt pluged in all the way.

CONGRATULATIONS. My first experience with replacing/upgrading computer parts did not go as smoothly.
