What you have will have no problem playing WoW or FFXI.

Hardware out now will be plenty good enough next year. Of course, top of the line right now will be $100 this time next year and will be plenty good enough for the year after that. Hardware is a treadmill, there is no reason to get top of the line ever.

If all you play are current MMO's, you don't need a new video card.

It all depends on whether your Motherboard supports PCI-E or not. If it does then you can get a HD-4850 card and reuse it for your new rig, plus it will last you for at least a few years since it's a very recent card. And a pretty big improvement over the one you have now.

That being said the HD5xxx series will hit the market later this year so it should be at similar prices as the HD4xxx is now by the time XIV is out. So it's your call whether you want to upgrade now or wait on that one.


Now, if you motherboard is AGP then you have to consider that when you upgrade your motherboard/Proc./Memory combo you'll probably need to buy yet another card, since most cool motherboards are PCI-E now. And I don't know if the new video card series will even have AGP versions anymore.
