I really like XI's GUI, I just wish macros were more responsive (on PC) and allowed for way more lines (20 would be good). It would be nice if they also revamped the radar/compass so it was less ambiguous.

(Without the need of 3rd party software.)

But other than those 3 things it works great for me.

Add another GB of RAM, and I don't know about using RAID for domestic gaming, maybe Mhurron can give you better advice about that.

No, it was the forum goers.

They have a rather active and popular forum base..

What do you reccomend I do Feba?
Aside from reading your 50 dollar book

Do you know of a site with prebuilts that will run EVE (premium graphics) really well, for not-so-much?

And yeah, I'm not very computer literate, when it comes to how to install drives, cards, and anything really.

Can you plug your Cell phone charger in? Stuff only fits in one slot most of the time, if it doesn't, then it doesn't really matter where it goes.

If I were you, I'd find a reputable local whitebox dealer and just give him a list of parts to throw together or get an HP.

Go to the library, check it out, and read it for free. Or just try to find an online guide to computer hardware. Either way, if you spec out your own computer, you need to have at least a basic understanding of what the hardware is. If you've never put together a computer before, you might be better served by finding a club or class (such as at a community college) that teaches you how to put together a computer. Actually, if you ONLY want to play EVE, you might be able to get some great help out of a local LUG (Linux User Group). They'll probably still be willing to help if you just want to install windows, though. They can also help you determine what computer shops in the area are reliable, cheap, have a lot of stuff on clearance, and so on.

I have to agree with Mhurron that if you really don't want to build your own, you should go to a local store and talk to the people there about what you want to do. I'd have a higher trust in an OEM phone line to spec me out a good PC than I would that forum.

                    QFT or This times 1000

Its better if you know how your own stuff works, rather than having a company build a computer for you. Then when something slightly screws up and the warranty goes *poof* you go OMGWTF FIREDOG HALP!!!! Then you end up getting ripped off by Geeksquad and Firedog, a $20 fix costs $60 + Labor.

I did a internship back in 2005 at my old highschool as a Web Designer. While I was working on a webpage concept with this other couple I took a interest in computers from the Intern Hardware Technician that worked there in my down time. During that time, I got to see how they were assembled and the specs and individual components, and took time on my own to research what I'd like to build in a computer. Near the end of 2005 I had gotten a job at the place where I work now and I decided to step out of the OEM sector and into the Build Sector, where I built my first computer. The computer I built was a P4 2.4 GHZ with like 2GB of ram with a ATI X1600 LOL (It was AGP, that was my mistake), which was a step up from my P3 733MHZ.

                    /cry Memories

New Computer is a Q6600 with 2x 8800GT EVGA's in SLI 4GB RAM on a XFX Motherboard, I have almost 2TB of Hard Drive space, mostly animes and videos I ripped for AMV purposes, and video/picture editing programs. Gonna upgrade soon, so I can throw away my Pentium 3 that I gave my mom and give her a OEM Acer system. I only bought that system to get the RAM and the CPU out of it. She wouldn't know what to do with the new computer, it'd just be too much power for her Casino Games and her printer.

They said not to get RAM on the CybPowPC site (that's why only one gig is in there) 'cause they over charge and I should just buy a few "sticks" at the store for half the price..

Since you're just going to buy one off the shelf, I recommend googling for coupons. I know Dell has some great coupons on their PCs that are extremely easy to find, and can save you hundreds. The other OEMs probably have similar deals.

I'm actually in the process of reading Upgrading and Repairing PCs 17th Edition, but for now I'll leave that as a side-project.

I stumbled across this in my area:

I wouldn't buy high-end electronics off CL. too much to go wrong. CL is fine for lower-end items, things that are cheap and old, but newer, more expensive things will lack at least one very important thing: warranties.

If you want something prebuilt, go with an OEM. It may not be as shiny, and the specs might not be quite as high, but it's worth it.
