So, I'm experimenting with some new networking in my house, and one of the key things I want to do is to let my personal hardwire intranet access a separate wireless router than the ones that my computers access. The primary reason for this is that I plan to put (very soon) a networked storage device on this network, but I want to be able to access it through the hardwire here at home, and also allow it to access the internet on a dedicated line, so to speak. For all intents, it it probably best considered a server for now.
Now, I know from my previous networking that I need a bridge to accomplish this. I did have one at one point, but I remember it was difficult to configure, unreliable, and now it's gone missing. I'm certain I have it around here somewhere, I just can't figure out where. The next best thing I have is my old Netgear MR814(v2) router, which I replaced for a faster one (and the fact that I also accidentally disabled the DHCP server and couldn't get it to restart it helped a little bit). Now the DHCP is somehow back on and I can use it as a router, but I was wondering if anyone knows if I could convert it into a bridge.
I know it's easy enough to turn into an access point by disabling the DHCP again, but that's the opposite of what I want. I've also been able to gather that since there is no apparent way to make it into a bridge, I may need to put new firmware on it, but I can't seem to find any but the original manufacturer's.
Any ideas, besides going out and getting a new bridge? I know that if all else fails I can bridge the connection through the hardwire on one of my stable computers that's also on the network, but I have never had much luck with Windows Bridging, so it's a last option.
