Saw this, remember it came up in a discussion about PS3/360 price once. Figured some of us would be interested in it.

Reason: If you don't want people to use the pictures you have on your site, you don't need the watermark, fuckers.
The problem comparing a 360 price to a PS3 price is that even though the graph shows the PS3 higher, it hasn't taken into account that you need a seperate HD drive and a few other extras to bring up the spec of the 360 to that of the PS3's standard package.
On paper the 360 looks cheaper, but in reality to compare they are both the same price.
What you havn't allowed for also is the insane mark up we had in the UK. I remember buying a megadrive (Genesis) and it cost me £200 ($400) double what it cost in the US then when it first came out.

Wrong. That's like saying that it's misguided to compare a VW to a Maybach because the Maybach has more features; when all you're comparing is the price of a car. The 360 doesn't NEED those things, which is why they aren't included; same goes for the VW. Yes, the Maybach might be flashier and have more gadgets, but when all you want to do is get on the road, you're not going to shell out all that money upgrading a VW.

Go make your own graph. This is pretty obviously for US prices.

Momma used to say, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." Now she says, "If you don't have anything nice to say, go post in Killing Ifrit."
NeoGeo and 3DO prices still make me laugh.
I remember them being outrageously priced when they came out.
Was it NeoGeo that had the Bonk the Caveman game?
I'm sure prices had a lot to do with why they both failed, but as I recall (its been a long while) there were very few games for either system, and they all sucked.
I RNG 75 I WAR 37 I NIN 38 I SAM 50 I Woodworking 92+2
NeoGeo's library was basically just SNK games, mainly fighters and brawlers. It was sold as home system, but was mainly intended for sale to hotels and arcades.
I looked back at the data and did a quick analysis of what prices would be in today's dollars, since the graph and data represented was for 2006. Here's what a Neo Geo would cost in 2008.
The percentage was based on U.S. Retail Escalation, averages to about 2.91%, which is close to 3% for what we use in our business. The calculator is based on Tom's Inflation Calculator.
If anyone wants to build a correct 2008 model, feel free to use the %'s provided at the link.
The reason for the Neo Geo's ridiculous price tag is that it wasn't a console so much as it was an arcade machine's hardware jammed into a console-like shell. 'Course, that doesn't mean it was a smart idea, just saying.
