So I finally entered hesitantly into a long distance relationship with the girl of my dreams (hopefully more than just temporarily). Well, she's in Boston, I'm in Dallas, and it looks like its going to be a long ride. We talk on the phone all the time, and over aim like we have for the past 3 years. She wants to start talking over web cam to make things easier on us, and she already has one as it comes with a mac? Well, I don't have one, so I was seeing if any of you have recommendations for web cams to purchase. My price range is around $0- 99 I suppose, maybe more if you absolutely recommend it. Any insight into this subject would be immensely appreciated seeing how it is incredibly foreign to me. This will be for a Desktop Sony Vaio pc with Windows XP Home Edition 2002. I also do not have a headset or a mic if that is a problem.

I'd get a headset before a web cam, that way you can actually talk.

If you're talking about just a headset. I have a phone. Don't some cameras have built in mics though?

Phones = Expensive.

Web phones (Such as Skype) = Free.

Big difference. Not to mention a headset is also useful when you join an LS (or guild, or clan, or corp, or whatever your fancy), far more than a webcam.

My phone is actually cheap, talking to her hasn't cost me a dime more than my regular policy. And my computer is far too inferior for online games, so Skype is out.
lol, if I need a headset then I will get one, but for now I'm looking at cameras. If you could offer some knowledge I would appreciate it. Especially from you Feba, I value your insight greatly.

Why is skype out? it's free if you both have it, easy to use and setup...


If you really want one, all I can suggest is Logitech. I've only once been disappointed in a Logitech product, and that was more because of my freakishly large head than the product itself
