i bit the Bullet, I got a Pc and sold my power mac G5

i sold my power mac G5 on ebay for 1,720. After i got the money i went out and bought a Hp Pavilion Entertainment Dv6308NR.


Here are the specs

160 Hd
Vista premium
1 gig of ram
Nivida Geforce 6150 With 288 video ram
15.4 widescreen
dvd burner
1.8 gz Amd Turion 64 bit dual core


i was playing ffxi yesterday with bump mapping on and in widescreen 16:9 it was running very smooth with very little if any lag

I am also using a wireless connection to play

The thing i hated to do was to 1st start up the computer so much crap on it

I'd go by a copy of XP and format and install that honestly.

Vista is trash for the next 2 years.

vista is a resource hog i know that but it does run pretty smooth. I got rid of all the Hp crap and stop that was loaded on the pc.

Ah, bloatware, how I doth loathe thee.

of course when I look for computers everything that's preinstalled is bloatware to me, but meh.

go to START > RUN and type MSCONFIG
You can go to custom startup and choose what apps you want to start when booting up. That should remove the silly applications that you dont need on start up.

I also suggest at least 2 GB of RAM for Vista.

I use Vista and it's running very well. I've been able to play BF2142, C&C3, FFXI, and WoW on it so far. They all look really great in 1280x800.

Two gigs of RAM is best, but you can also use ReadyBoost for an extra bump.
