As much as I am trying, I can't seem to get the controller to work with FFXI, any suggestions? or perhaps im missing somthing?

What have you tried, and is this "Logetic Dual action" the same as the "Logitech® Dual Action™Gamepad" mentioned on POL's website?Bamboo shadows sweep the stars,

Just a guess, but have you loaded the drivers for the controller? You probably need to do so and configure the buttons for the gamepad to work properly. I used to have a Logitech Dual Action to play FFXI with, but the analog sticks were flimsy and malfunctioned after 8 months.
