  • Upgrading, kinda

Would all these products go together and make a decent PC at that? I dont want anything top notch as Im not looking to spend too much on it.

    Intel Pentium D, 945, Socket 775, Presler Core, 2x3.4 GHz, 2x 2MB Cache, OEM,
    Gigabyte GA 945PL-S3, i945PL, S775, PCI-E (x16), DDR2 400/533, SATA II, ATX
    1GB CorsairXMS2, DDR2 PC2-6400 (800), 240 Pins, Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 5-5-5-12 x 2.

Im not a computer expert so I dont want to buy them and find out they arnt compatible, altho from reading the site I think they might be. I can put it together fine if they are compatible though.
Also would an AVP? graphics card work with that motherboard too? Im buying a new gc anyway but was gonna leave it a couple weeks if my old one would slot into the new motherboard.

    Thanks for any help. Appreciated

Those components you have listed should all work together fine.
And you can get whatever kind of graphics card you want as long as it's a PCI-E(x16) interface. All graphics cards will tell you what type of interface they use.

A Core 2 will out perform that Pentium D if you can afford it and will also fit in that motherboard.
I use a Mac because I'm just better than you are.

your copy of windows XP should be fine to transfer over to a new system, although don't you dare ever swap hardware with Vista, for that would be a sin against Gates.

You will need to remove windows from your first computer however. You can replace it with an older copy of windows, or try something like PClinuxOS or Ubuntu, which are very easy to use Linux OS.

Putting old pc parts in the bin most likely, I think they are broken :/ Or in my mums pc if theyre not. Do you mean just remove it from the harddrive? Cause Im taking that to the new one Im building.
