    Re: Buying new laptop

We purchased some HP machines here, they seem to work well and would run FFXI just fine.

I currently play on my MacBook.
I use a Mac because I'm just better than you are.

HTTP Error 418 - I'm A Teapot - The resulting entity body MAY be short and stout.

No idea, but if it has a good processor (my MacBook is a Core Duo) and a real video card then you shouldn't have a problem.

My MacBook has a Intel GMA950. All the Mac's sold now can use Quartz Extreme for drawing OS X so they support the needed 3d stuff, but most integrated Intel video won't. If you could afford a MacBook Pro you're even better as it has a ATI1600 as a video adapter.

Personally, I use my MacBook to play because I can't get a desktop with more powerful graphics. It works but it lags graphically when there is some things going on on the screen.

A desktop will perform better, but if you MUST have a laptop, the MacBook does it and most recent laptops with real graphics will.

          Re: Buying new laptop

Sony laptops are packed with their own proprietary buggy software which are resource hogs. They also cost too much. Your best bet at that price range is HP.

What do you mean "great media"? A good sound card? A good hard drive? A good software suite?

Personally, i'd look into a Dell.

              Re: Buying new laptop

I have a Dell, Windows Vista Premium, Core Duo, 2G of RAM, GeForce Go 7300, etc.

It works great with every game I've installed on it so far, including FFXI, BF2142, C&C3, and soon Halo 2.
