Live Messenger Issue

    Live Messenger Issue

    Ok, so, I finally decided to upgrade my MSN messenger to Live a few weeks back. Since then, its been having random issues. It lags for a solid 30 seconds whenever someone sends a custom smiley or when I send/recieve a file. It also tends to lag up when a large message is sent to me.

    And, very seldom, it will just randomly up and crash.

    System is clean. I scan it weekly with three different programs, nothing I don't recognize is running in my processes, and there's nothing else unusual going on with my PC. Reinstall hasn't helped. Is Live just stupid?

      I use Gaim. I used trillian and hated having umpteen windows up.

        Sounds to me like a connection issue, maybe your firewall is blocking the connection with Live (a port or something related to it).

        Could also be your Messenger settings or your router settings or things like that.

          Could be a port or settings. I never thought to look because the older version never had issues. But Live may be doing something differently. Crazy MSN. It's the only one I use though, and only then for 5 people.

            I use trillian on my PC, adium on my mac.


            What're you talking about, trillian opening a bunch of windows? You could set it to display all your contacts in a single window if you wanted.

              They must have changed that then. Only Gaim offered tabbed conversations in a single window when I got it.

              But, lemme stop before I have to mod myself for going off-topic.

                Nope, Trillian has always given that option.
