  • XP Setup disk question

Ok, i'm sorry if this is in the wrong section but this is really the only place i though it would fit in lol.

anyway, i recently brought a new PC, and it had Vista primarily installed into it, my previous computer (which i gave to my sister) has XP on it, now the Computer I got is an 'Acer' computer and the one my sister has is a Fujitsu Seimans (sp) and i am wondering, would a Fujitsu XP disk be alright to use to install on my Acer computer and have no/minimal problems at all (like registry etc)

I'm confused. Are you asking if you can use the Windows XP Install CD-ROM disc to install XP onto your Vista computer? Or are you asking if you can put the hard DISC drive with Windows XP on it into your Vista computer?

The answer to the first question, AFAIK, is you would have to uninstall Vista from your hard drive (format it probably) and then install XP.

To the second question, I would highly doubt it possible to put the other HDD into your computer, even as a slave drive, without first formatting.

Does the disk say install disk or recovery disk?

My fujitsu laptop only comes with xp home restore disks, rather than a full standalone working copy on disk.

Actually the answer to the question is no either way. Windows supplied with any commercial system is going to be an OEM not final retail version, they are linked only to the computer that originally shipped with them.
I use a Mac because I'm just better than you are.
