I've been using Comcast for years now, and they've always had problems delivering a reliable connection. I'm currently suffering through terrible latency and extremely long lag spikes that often result in a simple disconnection. It's almost as if somebody is running a peer-to-peer transfer program on our network, but we only have two computers on it at the moment and they're both clear.

Before calling them up and yelling at them, I'd like to know if anybody else using Comcast is having any problems? It seems like I can never go a few weeks with a steady connection without something crazy happening to it.

    Re: Comcast

My Comcast has been R0 a lot lately. It will last for a few seconds and then I am fine. It just started the other day.
    Thanks Kazuki.

      Re: Comcast

I used to have tons of problem with SBC's DSL. From 5PM to 12PM, the internet will just randomly not downloading any data and for 3 months I was complaining and they couldn't figure out what was wrong.

I switched to comcast cable internet and I have to say I've been very happy, haven't got any issue at all for almost a year now. Well, a few downtime here and there but very few and far between.

        Re: Comcast

I should have mentioned my location, because if I remember correctly you're living somewhere in South Asia, Jei? I've heard good things about the service in Asia, mostly something about nobody offering anything 56k or lower.

I'm on the East Coast in the US, and I believe the problem began happening sometime last week.

The R0'ing you mentioned, Skoal, is probably the equivilent of the lag spikes I'm getting in Battlefield 2 and 2142. Most of the time the latency is reported as being very high, but I'm experiencing the usual low amount of lag.

It's very perplexing. Thanks for the replies.

I'm getting good marks on everybody but my connection to their servers in LA, Cali.

          Re: Comcast

Eastern Time Zone Comcast user and my connection has seemed a lot weaker lately. (I would say last week or so) I am gettting R0's but usually only in towns I think. I haven't been disconnecting.

Honestly if I had a better option besides DSL, I would change from Comcast I think.

              Re: Comcast

I've heard nothing but bad from Comcast on the east coast.

Here between the coasts, been using Mediacom. Their online service is outstanding, and hasn't been down in over a year at least. We are currently getting screwed, because they don't carry CBS anymore (so much for hosting the Super Bowl party this year).

Not sure if Mediacom is in your area or not.

              Thanks for the sig, Selphiie!!
