In one word yes, but the problem is you will have to set graphics level down quite a bit and you may ahve processor lag due to the grphics being shared on your processor. though FFXI is more processor hungry than graphics it still sues both.

Best advice, run the latest Benchmark test from the FFXI site and see what score you get and what suggestion they make, before you buy a copy of the game.

Upgrading the memory to 1Gb would help as windows takes up half of what you have!!, memory is cheap theses days so shoudn't be too much of a problem.

You will probably have to upgrade this, as even though FFXI uses almost entirely CPU, if your GPU doesn't support Hardware TNL, FFXI will not run.

If your mac is significantly powerful, I beleive i've heard of some cases of getting FFXI to run on BootCamp, although that would most likely be a lot of trouble.

Not to mention Intel Extreme 2 line of integrated VGA doesn't support DirectX 8.1, either, which is also required to run ffxi.

In other words, it doesn't run the game at all, no matter how low you set the graphics level. Likewise, the ffxi benchmark won't run, either, because the benchmark uses the same software engine as the game, so any PC that doesn't meet the minimum requirements (not the one posted on their website, but systematically required features such as hardware TnL and DirectX 8.1) simply returns an error when trying to run it.

Aside from VGA, Celeron isn't a good CPU when you try to play ffxi on it. But upgrading your CPU at this point doesn't justify the price/performance ratio since Celeron D 330 is for socket 478, and Pentium 4 for socket 478 is already obsolete. Unlike the VGA situation, Celeron does run the game without any systematic limitations, so you could try to play on it and see if you're ok w/ the performance. But if you're not satisfied, it might be better that you buy a new PC rather than paying hundreds for an obsolete CPU.

well, that doesn't exactly help you

get a VGA adapter for your PS2 and connect it to her PC monitor

            Thanks Yyg!

It wont run on the non Intel mac, and that model of Dell may or may not allow you to upgrade your video card. So just try and use this as a excuse to buy a bigger or better tv(and use the old one for ffxi) or just buy the vga adapter as neighbortaru said. Plus the Celeron D is a PoS anyways, and its to bad you bought a first generation G5 or that would of been quite nice.
