looks similar to the system that i run on... except i have a pentium 4 1.7gHZ
the game runs for me, it lags quite badly in high traffic areas when a lot is going on (things like big allience fights, garrison) i have to run in 512x512 background res so the game doesn't look too pretty, but it does run. In the end it's up to you. i'm not sure how much of an effect the different processor will have, but you might be pushing it. You might be restricted in things that you do.

How can you afford the monthly fee if you can't afford some simple upgrades to make the game playable? With your system specs as shown, the game will barely even load, even on minimal settings.

It kind of looks like you fall short of the minimum requirements.

I agree with Icemage. That system MIGHT be able to play FFXI but its not guarenteed. Also it might play it but playing it to where you can enjoy it.....I doubt it. Do yourself a favor and get an older PS2 from a game store that sells used systems, add in a network adapter, grab a HDD (don't buy a used one, you may have to search for a while but get a new one), and play it on the PS2. The CPU and ram are above minimum requirements, the video card, while not the best is at minimum and will run the game. They won't be able to run at anything over the lowest settings but it will run. Remember when the game was released, what they have was a decent system.Originally posted by Icemage

Now I'm no math whiz but seems to me 12 < (50+12)
Now then to the OP, it will run but at nothing over minimum settings, and remember to turn weather off. When you can, if you can bump the ram up to 512MB and find an old ATI 9600 at least the game will run much smoother and you would be able to turn some things on to make it look better.
Or there's going the PS2 route if you want to, but that might cost more then upgrading the ram and video card, since the 9600 you can probably find on EBay.Comment

I played a while ago on a similar system with an MX440 card, though it had a p4 cpu. While I also had to turn the background resolution down to 512 it still ran smooth, only lagging in heavily populated areas. I have never seen the ps2 version (no release here) so I can't compare, but the system you have should be able to run the game. Upgrading the system, or getting an xbox2 would definately improve performance, though.

You can do it in the setting or through registry. The FFXI Config is best however.

If you upgrade, I would say get a little more ram (so you have 512mb) and get a new video card. Other than that, your system is about twice what mine was when I started playing. I had half as much ram as you do, an older video card, and 700Mhz processor. The game ran, on all minimul graphics, with hardly any lag, but it wasn't very enoyable. A little more ram and you should be fine.Comment

I would recommend getting a new PC first however. I used to run the game on a 900 cerelon CPU. It runs on the lowest settings but it's so bad that I could barely even read any names on the screen at all. It hurts my eyes after player for a while.
If you don't mind player at a very, very low res then this isn't a problem I guess.There are painters who transform the sun into a yellow spot,

Buy a newer videocard $50 should be good (buy it online), and another 256 of ram and the game should play just fine. And no upgrading that pc to play ffxi at ok settings would cost less then the ps2 copy if you shop around for parts. (I think you could upgrade for 80 bucks if you buy parts online and im talking new parts not ebay)
And my last pc was a athlon xp 2000+ (1.667ghz) raidon 9550 with 512mb of ram and ffxi played just fine. (ill leave the horror storys of that emachines to another thread)Comment
