I have recently purchased an Alienware Aurora m7700 Notebook and I have found that the wireless card I am using with it causes the system to studder. Tomorrow I am going to test another card as well as an ethernet cable to make sure that is exactly what the problem is. The tech support at Alienware said that this problem is likely not able to be fixed; it's just the way wireless is. So I'm wondering, does anyone else here experience the same thing I do? Is it me, Alienware or any notebook?

Re: Wireless Sucks?
I just got my m7700 a couple weeks ago. I ordered it with the internal wireless card and it works like a dream. My son and I were blown away with the range and speed. No issues here whatsoever. I was going to use an external one but I'm glad I went with what I ordered.Originally posted by FebaBut I mean I do not mind a good looking man so long as I do not have to view his penis.Originally posted by TaskmageGod I hate my periods. Re: Wireless Sucks?
Based on personal experience I hat wireless.
My friends 2nd laptop (hes house bound so has one in the bedroom and one in his lounge as he can't carry anything while moving between rooms)
The Dell laptop (now thats another storey on how long it took toarrive etc. and I've already moaned about customer services) talks to his linksys wireless router no prblem, its set to full encryption (WPA PKIP) etc. His Fujitsu slimline laptop he has in his bedroom however keeps cutting out on the wireless card, we have tracked it down to a simple problem. Interferance. He has a cupboard with the electric meter etc and a thick stone wall (i know how thick because I had to drill a hole through it to put a CAT cable through) So reason it keeps dropping on speed and cutting out occasionally is because it looses the signal (even though the transmitter is only 6m away)
Check you have no major obstructions or electric boards even cordless phoned nearby as they have been know to interfere when removed from the base station.
Secondly if none of that, check your hardware in your hardware profile, make sure there is no yellow exclamation mark next to your wireless adapter in the list.
Failure to that try moving the transmitter to another location and try and keep "line of site".
Wireless is great when it works, but a real pig when it screws up. As you may note I said I drileld a hole in the wall, well his bedroom laptop now works perfectly with its "wired connection".

Re: Wireless Sucks?
I've been going on wireless ever since I started playing FFXI (about two years ago). I've never experienced any problems. I'm running on a Compaq Presario X1000 (Notebook). Wireless router is Apple's Airport. I'm not sure of my exact wireless card model, but it's a Bluetooth something or other.

Re: Wireless Sucks?
I've also been using Wireless for two years or so, and I haven't had any problems. I am lucky enough to have the router in the same room though, so that might have something to do with it. Still, I'm really pleased with it.
I will say though that I was very disappointed the one time I tried to move my "office" (which is essentially just my desk and chair that I've taken over a corner of my kitchen in) to the back room of my apartment, and I got terrible reception there. It's the one time I wished I had a wired service.
I hope you can get things sorted out though. I know connection issues can be frustrating.

Re: Wireless Sucks?
I've had bad experience with wireless as well. We eventually got tired of it and ran a cable from the router all the way up. I am firmly against wireless until someone shows me that it is better than what my impressions were.Twilightrose- THF/49 WAR/24 WHM/53 BLM/32 RNG/15 BST/25 NIN/27

Re: Wireless Sucks?
I've had bad experiences and good experiences with wireless. I've also had WORSE experiences with wired. It comes down to doing the research, and understanding the technology. If you don't, it can suck greatly. If you do, it will work brilliantly.
Me personally? I wouldn't give up my wireless for anything.
