problem with comcast cable pricing.

    problem with comcast cable pricing.

    recently I placed an order for cable internet at comcastoffers.com.

    The website says the price would be $19.99. The lower part of the page mentions " Prices and availability of promotional pricing vary for non-Comcast cable customers."

    So anyway, I placed my order, got my modem and call in to schedule installation.
    The girl on the line said I have no cable TV so my price would be $34.99 a month for 6 months.

    I dunno, does this price sound right to everyone else? I was soooo expecting $19.99 so this is quite disappointed

    Yes. That sounds right. Most cable carriers offer about $40/mo if you don't already have basic cable service with them. And they offer a lower rate if you do. Thier big money maker isn't through cable internet, its through premium channels, so they do whatever they can to get you to sign up for cable.

    Comcast does it. Timewarner does it. Cox does it. Never seen a cable company that doesn't.

      Yes, if I did not have cable service to my home but wanted Roadrunner internet, I would have to pay $90 for what I have. But since I have cable service, it's only $80. Not that much of a savings but $10 x 12 = $120. And with a $175 cable bill I'll take that $10 off anyday!

        if you're paying more than 49.99 (exluding taxes) for high speed internet after the 6 months, then they are screwing with you. 49.99 is what i pay for cable which consists of the service and my modem lease.

          That is soundly correct.

          I'm a Comcast customer, cable and broadband alike. I do get it cheaper too.

            by the way, comcast price for cable internet alone will become $54.99/month after 6 months. will it be a good move to cancel and get the new 6 month plan again?
            I heard from my friend that you won't get to keep your e-mail address but I have no problem with this. any other thing I should be aware of?

              Mine is a faster business connection and thus the extra cost. Regular speed is $45 I believe but I could be off $5 or so.

              I don't think that you can cancel and sign up again. They'll have your name and address on file and will see you already received the deal. I know thats how it works here. Now if you cancel and wait 6 months to a year, then its possible you may be able to get in on whatever deal they have at that time. Check the small print of your contract and see if there are any stipulations.

                You can cancel, but you'll have to wait 2 months before getting it again.

                  am paying 67 bucks for comcast internet and 6 months of cable but my cable sucks cause i got like 100 channels
