Re: Internet Explorer vs Mozilla Question

In my opinion -I'm not a computer person, but...Pretty much any program you install to stop viruses/spyware/trojans will have flaws or weak spots...there is no such thing as perfect with those programs because there are tons of people out there working to get around them, and eventually someone succeeds. To me it only makes sense to go ahead and use something less connected to my OS...just in case.
66/55 mph? No problem! Heck, while I'm at it...let's throw in a couple of parking tickets too!!! (Gotta love campus police!)

I have a program that specializes in surfing the internet, one that specializes in preventing and destroying viruses, and one that specializes in preventing and destroying spyware. If you have all your bases covered it doesn't make a difference as to what browser you use
In order to verify the safety of a vehicle on the road, technicians have to put the machines to hazardous tests, like crashing into walls and other stuff, i dont see how Jarre's experiments are flawed... you dont just hide in an undeground cave to avoid a plane crash that might kill you, you simply make planes not fall all the time, decreasing the odds.

It's also true that you avoid certain zones of the city at night, you might robbed or something worse, but it's also true that avoiding the problem isnt the solution, removing the problem is the solution, people SHOULD be free to go anywhere they want at the time they wish to without fear of possible hazards.

FireFox is working towards that goal, and im sure IE is too, too bad IE only started moving when FireFox (Mozilla, Firebird) came out.

Now, i use IE and FireFox, i use them both equally, but i dont remember once where i had the need to use IE, but i have many times found that FireFox is the one that works best in some situations.

Im not fanboish towards firefox... not when confronted with CSS quirks and workarounds that IE requires, it's a fact, not a myth.

Besides just bad design flaws in terms of security, activeX most notorious, how about vb office scripts, etc all in the name of bundl...err..intergration.

IE is the posterboy in a way of technological monopoly abuse. IE was crap till about 3.0 but caught on quick, and once netscaped died, IE 6 was its last(unofficial) incarnation. No competition = no reason to advance anymore then to keep the flies(complaints) away.

Firefox is much more advance then IE almost 6th year long tooth. It's what happens when one side stops working even if the other side isn't quite that fast.

If you like IE, I suggest you goto firefox for now anyway, because IE7 is going to look a lot like firefox. You can switch back then.

That's a bad comparison. Testing cars is as simple as working with static objects and rerunning the tests over and over with those static objects. The internet is dynamic. Rotating banner ads can introduce spyware, worms, and viruses with different ads, and unless you know where every piece of spyware, worm, or virus is coming from you can't test each browser equally. Surfing to random sites with each browser only compounds this problem. You're basically testing the luck of how many harmful objects you don't pick up on a certain run rather than how well a brower can block harmful objects. The only real way to test this is with a computer you don't mind wrecking by repeatedly surfing through hostile web pages that you yourself created. Without the control, the experiment is baseless.

And I'm not arguing that IE is better than Firefox, I'm just objecting to the becoming of a fanboy or browser nazi that some of you guys seem to be. It's like arguing which kind of bread is better when bread is really only one part of the sandwhich.

I don't sound like an IE fanboy do I?

            Indeed you do.

FF for me rendered adaware and spybot pretty much useless. That is reason enough to switch.

              I like this sentence.
There are painters who transform the sun into a yellow spot,
but there are others who with the help of their art and their intelligence
transform a yellow spot into the sun.

I don't think you sound fanboish Impaction, if you prefer IE, you should stick with it.

Like you said, sammiches arent made with bread only.

I just downloaded the IE 7.0 Beta. It's pretty good, minus the extension ability that FF has. Vana'Diel clock is gone...*sniff*
