    hope i post this is correct section...

    We are having a R0 problem and we've had it for almost a few years nows where i live.

    My g/f, roommate, and I all play FFXI on the same network. We have no problem connecting to playonline and no problem logging in but many times when we log in we are stuck in a perpetual state of R0 and get disconnected back to the play online screen. All other games run fine online but FFXI. And yes ports are open.

    If any one has any recommendations on how to alleviate this problem please post. Need help.

    there r basically 3 areas u need to check;

    1. does this happen when only 1 of u r online? if so, it's possible that there's something wrong w/ ur router. some routers r not "smart" enough to handle the simultaneous connections correctly, or sometimes they just go nuts. try assigning IP addresses to ur pc's manually, rather than having DHCP supply one for u. (make sure u take those IP's away from DHCP "pool" in ur router's setting.) this prevents the unwanted "release" of IP addresses, which might help improve the situation.

    2. is ur line DSL? if so, how far r u located from the phone company's facility (CO)? due to the limitation of DSL technology, the more distance there is between phone company's CO and ur house, the more noise the line picks up thus resulting in not only the slower connection but also less stable line.

    3. if DSL, is it the case that the DSL modem is placed somewhat away from the phone jack? for the same reason as above, the line may be picking up noise which makes it less stable.

    as u can play other games just fine, it's probably not 2 or 3, but just for the sake of understanding the problem better, let us know what kind of line u have, and also who ur service provider is. some provider may be known to have issues w/ online games. also, knowing the make and model of the router may lead to good advice.

    sry, this is as much as i can think of right now. i'm sure someone else here has had similar experience who can give u better recommendations.
