Yes. The Playstation 2, PC and Xbox360 versions of the game all play on the same servers, so you can access your account on any of the three platforms. Things like macros and magic orders will not be saved, however.

Like what? Run 3rd party apps so you can cheat?

I wish they'd eliminate the PC client from this game. If it wasn't for PC players we wouldn't have as many people running hacks and cheats.

Then the sales for the game wouldn't be as much as it is right now. Even though there are a ton of PS2 owners out there, Sony really didn't do anything with their HD and internet capability. So that's a bust. This is the only game (if I remember right) that used the HD here in the US. So I dunno. And also just cause of 3rd Party apps doesn't really mean much on what you said. I'm a PC player and I can't stand how PS2 looks. And you know what, if there's something they should get rid off, it's the PS2, cause we can't even get a new looking armor cause of it. Perhaps once the next gen systems comes out, the PS2 will get phased out.

While everyone is ragging on Pit, I'll add my two sense after asking why the animosity ^^

Has a user running a third party app stolen gil from you, and used it to put you into debt, forcing you to sell your sife and kids to him into indentured slavery?

The hacks and cheats that you see and refer to are small fish in a large ocean. Not here to rant, but I love being able to have LP playing in PlayOnline when I log on, or looking at myself in a new set of gear every week, despite simply wearing AF ^^

And I played the game for a year on the PS2. . . simply being able to use a laptop and all the versatility adds a new dimension that the PS2 lacks.

The only problem on the PC is the same problem many games on PCs share- If you're not up to speed, your gonna have performance cuts. On PS2, I never lagged during summerfest or when I ran through the Khazam jungles. On my poor old Inspiron 1200 (look up my decent stats yourself ^^), as soon as the fireworks start, the framerate drops, and in areas with long hallways, I gotta look the right direction or I lag. . . arguably, the only thing the PS2 has is the fact that on the PS2, you'll be able to play 99% of the game without any major performance hits or issues.

I have both the PS2 & PC version and i never have any framerate problems even when i go to a AH in jenuno, the PS2 version doesnt have this problem too in fact the PC version's graphics are far more better than the PS2 version but every one knows that.

A suitable computer cost around 3-4 times the PS2.

While some of us more tech-scavy people live on it, other people can't.

                  Different strokes for different folks.

There is also the fact that using your computer and playing ffxi at the same time isn't that easy, even with windower.

Small fish in a large ocean? Umm...Fish botting is the reason inflation is the way it is....An average fish bot with 100 skill in Kazham could pull in 5million a week with rusty caps. So imagine, all of the fish bots in Rabao, pulling in 5mil out of nowhere. Now do you think it's a small fish in a large ocean? I know Magic skill bots don't really hurt anything. But only PC users can use fishing bots.

Server populations would only be about 300 to 400 when it wasn't JP primetime. The majority of Japanese people play on PS2. Also, a good computer costs 3 to 4 times more than a PS2, but you can shrink that number if you build it yourself. It's not that hard, and you'll have a computer that will put an Alienware to shame.

Let's not forget that they've already stopped making ps2/hard drive combos. The only ps2s that are being newly manufactured these days are ones without hard drive support.

Lol, guess no one wants to read anymore. The original poster did not intend this to turn into a debate of which is better PS2 or PC. Both platforms have their strenghts and weaknesses to the game, and both that is right both platforms have their own individual reasons why the game doesn't advance to hugely in graphic complexities or performances.

Something of which the next gen. consoles and system will overcome and possibly make it capable of upgrading a game like this beyond what it is now. If you must debate though then PS2 and PC basically boils down to two results, 1 has the best performance for the game and 1 has the best graphics. That's it, so which is more important to you? Decide that then choose the corrisponding system.

I wouldn't say that the PS2 is horribly beaten in graphics. It has a smaller resolution, because of the i400 ( I believe I got that right ) but that doesn't mean the graphics are bad.

                          It's a shame my ps2 died ( who doesn't have a dead one? ) . But PC is good.
