  • Graphics cards and Ram

Sorry if this has connection to a post I have made in the general gaming forum, so sorry for the inconvenience, but this is now more focused on the computer aspect. I think I'm set on buying a new graphics card and getting some more ram. So far for Graphics cards I'm looking at : Radeon_9600_128_MB
    and Sapphire_ATI_Radeon_9800_Pro_128

As for Ram I was looking at: Corsair_1GB_PC_3200_DDR_400MHz

Are these well equiped enough to handle the task easily for FFXI and new games such as Half-Life 2? Also, does anyone know if the vender is reliable or not? It is afterall off the stickied page above.

avoid tigerdirect like the plague! newegg, however, is top notch.

that said, I'd go with the 9800 pro (make sure it has 128 bit memory INTERFACE) if you can afford it. it'll play FFXI very well and HL2 well enough.

and 1 GB of RAM is pretty good too.

    Thanks Yyg!

As it turns out, my computer has a pci connection for a video card port. Is it just me or do all the cards supported on such a connection kind of suck?

I appreciate the comments. If an admin would like to go ahead and delete these posts and comments, go ahead. This topic has pretty well been ended and solved. Thank you guys. I'm looking at buying the PS2 version, finding a new job (Albertsons's pays $5.25 an hr) and slowly over time upgrade my pc with money I save. I might, if issues get resolved soon, see you all in game.
