I am choosing between these 2 cards, which should I choose?

    1. Sapphire Radeon 9600 256MB
    2. ATI Radeon 9800se 128MB 256bit DDR AGP 8x mod 9800

The 9800 is newer but the 9600 is 256MB so..

don't get the 9800se unless you are willing to use software hacks to unlock the other pipes (unfortunatly, i can't give proformance differences due to ati dropping 9800se from it's site)

as for the 9600, it's one of teh better cards for o'cing, so if you have good cooling, it can be a beast.

I'd say get the Sapphire Radeon 9600 256MB, not because thats the one i have, (which it is) but because i think it a lot better than the others, and its not too expensive..

if you happen to have about U$S 200, get the 9800 pro 128mb in a few places (see www.pricewatch.com)

from about $150 you can get 9600xt (it's normally 128mb, but much, much faster than normal 9600 256mb [ 2gp fill rate+ more than twice as many mt per second , normal has 1.3gp fill and 162.5mt per second])

anyone getting a new comp, looks like X600 will give you the most for your money (more triangles a second than X800 pro but also less than half fill rate, but cheaper too)

omega, 9600 is actually newer, came out at least 6 months after 9800 if not longer

do not buy the saphire 9800SE and except to mod it into a 9800 pro i have had two of those cards and niether has taken the mod once u get to windows desktop the screen goes blank ...

but between those two choices definately get the 9800 SE 256 bit except get a POWERCOLOR and u will be golden ... i have recently built two more computers and used the powercoler 9800SE 128MB memroy and 256bit bus and both have been succesfully modded into 9800PRO with the OMEGA drivers ...

the saphinre 9800 comes clocked at 325/310 i think and the powercolors are already clocked at 380/320 so u dont need to flash the bios to mod it jsut use the omega drivers and u get a 9800pro for 160 bucks
