I was wondering if anyone knew if I could hook up a DVD surround sound system to my computer and use the speakers?

Yes, it's completely possible. Your sound card is going to ultimately decide how you have to hook it up. If you have a standard sound card with 1/8" jack, all you require is a Y cable that has a Male 1/8" jack at one end and two Female RCA plugs on the other end. Then just hook up your audio cables to your DVD receiver and the Y cable. You probably won't be able to take advantage of surround sound or any of the other audio features, but you will be able to here your PC through it.
Scenario #2: If you have a sound card with RCA outputs (SB Live! PLatinum) you can just run the standard RCA audio cables from your sound card to your Stereo. Since the RCA plugs provide a stereo instead of a mono signal, you can take full advantage of your DVD Stereo's surround capabilities.61-RDM 33-BLM 32-DRK 15-THF 16-WHM 8-SMN 11-BST 5-PLD 24-RNG 10-NIN 1-SAM 13-WAR 6/6AF 4/4 RSE RANK 8 San'Doria
