  • Super lag... >< can't take much more

Been lagging a LOT in FFXI lately... but it's not just lag from FFXI. Anything I do online lags... and not just little lag >< for a long time. It's not because of my ISP because I have 2 and they lag the same, and it's never lagged like this before. I asked on my LS and some said it could be from a bad modem, phone line or something >< but I need to know what could be causing this lag >< it's very annoying and very frustrating... ><.
I never looked at the network run before but I don't think it's supossed to look like this, picture attached.

PS. The lag is random... so times it's running fine, if it helps any to figure out what the problem is

The fact that you have 34 process could be causing part of the problem.

Haha yeah too right! Getting rid of that and getting more RAM would fix da problem.

getting rid of some of those processes would help. the one that seys USERNAME or your name would be the ones i delete, but dont delete the IEXPLORER.exe i thinkn it is and one more i think its liek taskmng.exe but i am not for sure. stuff that you know wont do anything negative to your comp. go ahead and knock it off.

that gig of ram is plenty so you wouldnt have to mess with that. you might could also run ad-aware 6.0 and spyboy - search and destroy. which both can be downloaded at www.download.com
those will also make your comp not so sluggish. hell this probably has nothing to do with your problems but it never hurts to clean your computer of spyware.

Well I downloaded Ad-aware and ran it then defraged my PC over night, just logged on and things were running very good but not sure if things are fixed just yet, will check when I get home from school to see if things are fixed... they are looking good for now at least.

                Edit:
Ad-aware found 152 things >_> don't laugh <_<, which I think was the main problem of my lag.

indeed it was i had the record for so many files it found on my comp. when i brought it to my tech class tho i forgot the number but i had a mess load. it does help to run that like maybe every weekend. and since its fast it isnt time consuming at all. i do believe your comp will be faster now
                  well...blow me down

maybe something is eating up your bandwidth?
try running Spy Bot Seek&Destroy( http://www.safer-networking.org/ ), works great for getting rid of adware,spyware,keyloggers,etc.. I'm aware you already got rid of adware, but perhaps that program missed something? doesn't hurt to try.

if you get high number of lost packets, it may be the problem, but there isn't much you can do if it is (except cableing/ amps/ call connection provider to test line).

Ermm, did you get this fixed?

If not, try doing some basic networking stuff.

If you have cable or dsl, and our running a router, try checking the router. Or if you're using another computer to ICS, try checking that pc for spyware/adware. Try checking the cat5 cables and and the phone jack thingies.

It could be something stupid like line static or something. You might have to call your ISP for that >_<
