  • Help with HDD.

Well, I had a problem with hard drive and I gave it to my friend so he can format it which he did, but there is a problem. A blue screen pops up and this is what comes out.

"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again follow these stepes:

Check for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers. Check your hard drive to make sure it is properly configured and ternubated. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption and then restart your computer."

Now has anyone gotten this problem before? I've turn it off and plug it off then plug it back on. I still got the same problem I haven't "CHKDSK /F" I really don't know how to do it . Any help will be helpful.

    Cheers
    Rico

I'd replace it. It sounds like to probably have VERY LARGE bad sectors. Does your Hard Drive make an audible click louder than normal shortly before you get the error?
