  • Radeon 9800 Pro 256mb problems... help!

Ok i just installed that Video card and at first it was awesome now a day later i'm having major problems with it. I get screen lock ups playing FFXI when i never did before and have to ctrl alt delete to get back to windows. I also get a message saying Your ATI video card stopped sending information and had to be reset.

Also if i put my old 128 mb geforce graphics card back in all my problems go away... I downloaded the latest driver for my ATI card and it doesnt fix the problem. Should i try an earlier version driver? Do i need to upgrade my motherboard or what? HELP!

I have the same card as you and have:

    1.8 Ghz
    512 Ram

No problems what so ever. Maybe reinstalling? Did you put it in fully?

Try, an earlier version of the driver from ATI...also you might want to try upgrading your motherboard chipset driver...maybe that might help....(ie. NForce=use the nvidia forceware, i think that's what it was called)

did you remember to remove the prior drivers (nvidia), since you seem to "fix" the problem when you but the old one back....

remove the other drivers, then use the drivers that came with the card (on a cd, these are stable, though 4-4.1 are pretty good)

x19, forceware is the name of the nv50 release nvidia drivers for geforce series.
