  • ATI Radeon 9600 Pro 128mb.

How well does this card work with FFXI? I hear the XT 256mb isn't worth the money, so I was going to get this card with my new computer.

It's around $300 in Australia, so it's just in my price range, unless someone knows where I can get a ATI 9700 Pro 128mb within $350 in Australia.

Heretic, any help please? Thanks guys.

It will work perfectly with FFXI. But if you can find a 9700Pro for a little more (I doubt it though), then definately go for the 9700.

The 9700 is EOL (End of Life)

End of Life? Is that a bad thing or a good thing?

Anyone please? Help me out, I need to find out the prices of both (in Australia) so I can tell my dad to get it with the new computer.

Well I told my dad to just get the ATI Radeon 9700 Pro 128mb and I'll chip in 100 dollars or so. I saw it for around 450 dollars here in Australia.

All I'm asking so far is will it run FFXI fine and dandy with high settings on? (P4 2.6GHZ 800FHZ or something like that, 1GB DDR RAM, 80GB HDD, 17" Flat LCD Monitor). What kind of benchmark score will I get?

EDIT: OMG! I found the SAPPHIRE ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb for a really good price and my dad said I can get it! Yay! What's your views on the card?

pretty good card... may have some kinks in it, and using ati's catalyst drivers may not completely work, but it's a lot better than all other 9X00 cards (except 256mb version and xt).

just make sure you get a 300watt supply at least (unless you have a dell.. they can somehow use retail 9800xt w/250watt [demension 8300])

speaking of the 9600s...i got one myself..and whenever i take a close up pic. on the game it goes to a black screen and will never come back on until i restart the computer. OR sometimes it will knock me off the whole game and go back to my desktop with lower resolution...any ideas on why this happens?.. cuz i ask ppl on the game and they never had the prob..but i know its ATI because the error will have that in it..but it doesnt really say much on it just to send an email to the company or whatever which they never reply back to me...if anyone can help it would be appreciated .....server: bismark ..name netrus ..look for me lvl 21 blm..
                  well...blow me down

                    Good Mid Level Card!

The radeon 9600 is a good card, in fat youd be better of getting the radeon 9600xt. But if you want more power for many id advise the ATI RADEON 9800 PRO :D
                    hope that helps
