Can someone please help me? Video Card Question.

I'm not entirely positive and not very computer knowledgable, but will this Video card work? It came with a new Dell I just bought.

Intel(R) 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV

If this card works great, but if not do you have an idea of a fairly cheap video card that works well?

Chances are it's a cheap, integrated graphics system. It will probably work, but not very well. How much are you willing to spend? For a little under $200, you can get a card that should last you for 2 or 3 years.

At most 120$. I'm pretty low on cash ^_^;;. Just wondering. I don't have XI just yet. Getting it over the weekend. Do you think I could get it and play it an d get a video card later? Also wondering, even thought this question might be kinda unable to be really answered, but do you think I'd be annoyed by it? Like would the screen flicker or would I have major lag or something if I continued to use the default video card it came with?

Well if it just came with a new dell it should work.. But it is integrated in the motherboard so I would recommend on buying a AGP nVidia Geforce FX product line card or a GeForce4 Ti.

Actually it won't work i have the same integrated POS. i bet your computer has no agp slots either(mine didn't ;/) so i suggest looking for a good pci card.

Oh... I have a free AGP slot though! ^_^. Any idea on what card I should get?

Well, it depends on how much money you are willing to pay. For a mid lvl range card go with a nVidiaGeForce Fx 5700 Ultra. For alittle big more pricy go with nVidia GeForce FX 5900 128 mb. Wahtever you choose though make sure it is AGP it's a lot better than PCI

Ack, sorry to be a bother, but I'm planning on getting a GeForce FX 5200. Is this a good decision, money wise for me? It said at that Tom's Hardware site it was about 100$ and here are my specs.

And I'm haveing second thoughts on my memory. How do I check to see if I do have a free AGP slot and if the Ge Force is compatible with it?

I'm supposed to be going out to get the game and the Video card today, so I kinda need an answer quickly.

Easiest way to check is to open up your case and look at the slots on the mobo. If you opened the correct side, you'll see many things, if you didn't, you'll see the back of the mobo (in this case, go open the other side lol). Now, once you can see inside, look at the open slots which should be near the base of case. Okay, as you go up and look at the slots, you should see one that is not as close to the edge of the mobo. That is the AGP slot (usually around the middle) If you don't have one, well.. you'll need a PCI card.

Now, the card is good for playing FFXI but any other future games and you'll be bummed out by its performance. To check to see if it is an AGP card, you should only have to look on the box and it should say either AGP or PCI.
