hi, just wandering how a GeForce Fx 5200 will go for FFXI

  • #2
The 5200 is the mx of the FX series (ie, it's bad). You're much better off going with a GeForce4 Ti4200, as it's probably the same price, if not cheaper. How much are you looking to spend?

      hey hey hey!

Talk to someone who has a Geforce Fx 5200

      Celeron 1.2 GHZ
      Geforce FX 5200 "PCI"
      254 MB of RAM

The game looks great, what can I say?

Get it if you can't pick anything else..

I don't know why everyone has a problem with it.

Geez, I swear, you guys are a bit picky with video cards...

And it is not bad... it works wonders... I don't know WTF... ppls problems are with Geforce FX 5200... they'll just say "it sucks" and not give a good enough reason...

I use it, ok? Only problem I ever found was not the video card, but my CPU would overheat... after that... no problems...

It's not a horrible card, but you can get better cards for the same price. Therefore, why waste your money?

It's not a horrible card for current gaming, but if you're looking to keep a card for later investments, it's definately a bad choice. But yes, the card will work well for FFXI (not the best, but fairly well).

Not to be ranking or anything but you have a celeron, a PCI video card from what i read and half the ram that Xp needs to run at 100% and not 50%.

Theres a huge differance in performances on differant machines and in my opinion your running the game and getting the not low but low end of performances. So your basically running a 600mhz/first generation speeds in pci mode. That card even in agp mode would suck wind, but everyone has their own choices.

Id aim for something better than the 5200 myself also there enough treads or websites to get some insight on whats wrong with this card to get some good info.

Keep this in mind, it pay off in the long run when you have to spend cash again.
