You're going to need his POL ID and Password to install the game on your system. If he has neither and didn't write it down/or know how to retrieve it - don't bother.

When you install the CDs and start the game, it will ask if you are creating a new account or have an existing one- this is where you need his POL ID and Password. Then you go into Payment Options and enter your Credit Card info. Then you can make your character through Content ID.

The lowest end system I used was a P3 1Ghz, 512MB SDRAM, and GeForce2 Ultra 64mb. It ran pretty well, though choppy during weather effects and when alot of people were around. You can either lower resolution to 640x480 or 800x600, disable Weather and other visual effects to your taste (shadows, clipping distance)

The FFXI setup will take up more than 5gb of hard drive space, so you either need to clear off your drive or invest in a new one (recommended)

      thankx for replying!!
The seller is already aware of that, we were disscussing it ealier (i.e me getting screwed by not being able to create anoter acct, his CC info still tied too the acct etc) but i think we got it down. he is gonna sell it for $30 and has already paid for this month (jan)

      about the comp
yea its SLOW (hey i only paid $150) I am gonna get another HD (6 gigs for ffxi alone! sheesh!) possibily up the ram to 512 if i can find a resonable price the lowest so far is about $80 (kinda expensive for outdated thec... and i still gotta buy a vid card.....btw what kinda vid card do you have?? I gonna try not to spend over $70 if possibile. errrr so i gotta spend $30 on the game and 70$ on the card plus i still have to get broandband access errr there goes my paycheck.

(I start an A+ certafication class on jan 9th once im done i get a brand new pc !!!!!! dont know the specs but it will be at least 2.o ghz + 40 gig HD + 512 ram

      wish me luck guys!!

a new vid card won't do you much good in a system that old.

This game doesn't run that great on my celeron 1.8ghz with 768 meg ram and a geforce 4 ti 4200 128 meg ram card.

As we get closer to the time when the PS2 version comes out, I'd almost say to anyone who has that much upgrading to do just to wait and get the PS2 version. You can network the ps2 version with your computer and a 40 dollar hub, if you use cable modem internet access or DSL. Its made to run great on the PS2 from the get go.

It sounds like you are doing one of those A+ class things where the class costs more than the computer that they "give" you. My guess is the computer would be as barebones as possible, with the stats you mention and integrated video or a geforce MX card or something cheap. If it were me I'd just buy a new motherboard, CPU, 512 meg of fast ram, great graphics card and a new hard drive then get one of those 50 dollar A+ books from the bookstore.

Cause it sounds like on your current system you'd have some upgrade troubles, such as having to waste money on old pc 100 or pc 133 sdram since that is probably what that 800 mhz takes (or at least much slower ddr than the standard is now.) Then you'd have to buy a compatible agp video card, there are different kinds and you might need a varying one.

yea Im not looking foward to having to upgrade it... nways thanx for the advice, the A+ class is through my job so its FREE so i might as well take it as for the comp the "give" you (hehe) its not that bad...I have two freinds who took the class thru our company and their pc(s) was sweet... they did have to buy a better vid card for gaming though... I really dont wanna upgrade my old system if i dont have to as you said id have to get a *CPU, 512 meg of fast ram(ddr?) great graphics card and a new hard drive* hmm oh well such is the price for gaming goodness...
