  • Gamepad Problem with USB Adaptor

I have a problem with my gamepad adaptor for the ps2 gamepad..
That being said, I've done a search on all the forums looking for it, but I haven't found one similar to this.
Also I have tried turning the rumble feature off, downloading the latest DirectX, and Reinstalled the drivers, and Uninstalled them.

Anyway so this is my problem:
The gamepad works fine and well, but after about 30-60 minutes of play, the gamepad just shuts off.
I can then try anything I want but it won't work again.
ALSO it doesn't work after that in the ffxi test or the control panel, all I can do is restart my computer..
It has NOTHING to do WHATSOEVER with FFXI crashing..

Anyone know how to fix this?

    What OS are you using?
If it's XP, then Gamepad performance deterioration is a known unresolved issue with DirectX and all versions of XP...
I have a similar setup, but after about 30 minutes, I lose all analog function and have to use digital for movement...
I haven't heard of a gamepad totally shutting down...so It may be a compatibility issue with the adaptor itself...
You might want to try some 3rd party gamepad calibration/detection/mapping tools, like Thrustmapper or the like...

Yes I'm using windows XP...So that might be it.

I'm currently downloading that Thrustmapper program, if that doesn't work then well..I don't really know.

[EDIT] Err I downloaded the program, and installed it and pressed "Thrustmapper" under the thrustmapper icon in the system tray but it will only detect thrustmaster gamepads.. (scjoose if I'm being a dummy)
Also I have no idea of any other so called 3rd party gamepad programs, so if this doesn't work then well..

i had the same problem, using XP also i did this..

Right click on My Computer -> Properties -> Click on the Hardware tab -> Device Manager

now in here find where it says USB Controllers or Universal Serial Bus Controllers, click the little + sign to expand it, then right click on the USB Root Hub and click properties -> then click the Power Management Tab and uncheck the box.

        Hope this helps

hmmmm...maybe its my controller/adapter that makes FFXI just Quit out altogether as if i've pressed the windows key then....I have the Windows key disabled so it's not that. Maybe my Video card overheating:confused:
