  • This sucks

    Man I got a new comp today 3.06ghz 498mb ram 120gigs HD and it turns out my gfx card if it is even one sucks ass...its a Intel(R) 82865G Graphics Controller 64mb could I still play on low res or what?

    If thats an integrated gfx card, than no, it shouldnt work .

      Most likely no, because I'm pretty sure that is integrated graphics. For pretty cheap you can get a Sapphire 9600 Pro for around $150.00 off of newegg.com . It works really good on my system with FFXI. Only problem was that out of the box it won't work, you have to download the updated drivers and install them. You can just download the ones off of ATI's site and use them.

        that's not cheap :-p I bought an 9600 XT retail box at www.buyxg.com (from powercolor Heretic lol) for only $163!! and shipping is only like $5-6 so it's all like w00t w00t. Here is the page w/ all of their 9600 models they ahve for sale: http://www.buyxtremegear.com/9600.html

            Wow, they have awesome prices. I'll have to check them out some more. Anyone, once you get your videa card, just make sure you update the drivers.

              did you check if your comp has any agp slots? i have the same intergrated thing and no it won't run ffxi i was about to buy a new agp card but then i found out this computer doesn't have any :mad: so if i wanted a good vid card(ok SOME pci cards are ok...)i'd have to buy a new motherboard and then the vid card and bleh...i just said screw it i'll just wait til march and play it on ps2...

                      Ryuushin, don't worry. You most likely have an AGP slot. If you look inside your computer, it's the slot that's slightly shorter than the PCI slots and likely a different color, too.

                      Almost every new computer uses a motherboard with 4x or 8x AGP included.

                      (Unless it's a laptop. That's a different story entirely.)

                          mine is new and i didn't get any agp slots but yea i suppose another way is just to open it up and check

                            I suppose I'm used to dealing with 3rd-party components. It wouldn't surprise me to hear that Compaq or some company would go with AGP-less mobos.
