ATI's Smartshader/Smartgart??

In my ATI Radeon 9600XT's config there is an option to turn SMartshader on. I've read on what this does but what options should i set it too??

Smartshader Options:
Black & White
Classic
Inverse Color
Porthole
RGB Cycle
Stylize - Black & White

Smartgart
In my config it is set to 4x AGP and my mobo supports 8x, when i try to set it to 8x and restart it goes back to 4x. Is this the same thing i'm talking about or is this a different option?? Also, should i turn fast write on?? Thanks

Hi this is really off subject but how do you like the 9600 xt. Do you have the settngs turned all the way up? And can you tell me your comp specs?

hehe about the 7th time being asked but it's no problem to give info for me!

Specs:
AMD Atholon Barton core 2500+ 333mhz @ 1.8ghz(soon to be OC to 2.5~ !!)
AN35n Ultra 400 Shuttle Mainboard with 8x AGP
512mb pc3200 ddr (2x 256mb dual channel)
60gb 7200rpm WD HDD
Ati Radeon 9600XT 128mb ddr 8x Agp(of course :p)
and, cool case etc.

Ok, i got a 3252 on high with the benchmark, but i got that on a comp with a similar config but a little weaker:
barton 2500+ @ 1.8ghz
2x 256mb PC2700 (2x 256 dual channel)
9.6gb old old old HDD

So this rig that is half finished will blow that score away once i Overclock it a lil . And i haven't played yet due to the small HDD but i just got my 60gb HDD from Western digital in today and i'm installing FFXI right now to test it, i'll get back to you with a screen or 2 . Enjoy your card man, it is awesome in other games so far to me!!

well i got it running and it looks and feels GREAT! like lagfree with settings maxed, except bg resolution is at 1024x768(i don't know if i should make it higher, will it look better or will text be smaller??), here is a comparison to a ati mobility radeon 7500c 32mb ddr card:

Might not tell that much ov a difference cause the crap picture taker in POL, i need to get another app to take full size ones. Anyhow, the old settings are as followed:
800x600
1024x1024
everything compressed and low res besides that
and i would get lags often

So, your card will rock if your system is around my spec or better!

Thanks for that reply I actually am looking at purchasing a computer almost exactly like the one on your first specs list. the only difference will be an Asus nforce2 motherboard and a single stick of 512mb of ram so when i get the money i can buy another for dual 512mb or 1.24gb(total) upgrade. Also the resolution depends on the size of your monitors size and refresh. I used to think that higher resolution meant better picture but it really depends on the size of the monitor. im not quite sure the standards but i think its something like 17" is 1024x768 the 19" is1280x1024, and the 21" is 1600x1200. So putting a 17" monitor on 1400x 1100 will make the picture clearer only because everything is so small.

i got my game running at 1024x768 and bg resolution (w/ reg hack) to 1600x1600 . I got some full screen screenies, i'm uploading them shortly
