Well I have a wireless Logitech Wingman Rumble pad and it was working great for the first week that I have had the game until today when my batteries ran out. So i replaced the batteries and it modified my controller config to having one jstick move the other camera and my dpad as menus. Before I had the dpad as move etc. So i wanted to change it again ot what I had before, but when i tried the configurer was not working well and my jstick seemed uncalibrated. When i would load up the game with the gamepad the camara is forever spinning around, it never stops. It just rotates and rotates. And in the config for FFXI when i would open up the test gamepad, if i moved the jstick right the target would move down and left the jstick would move up. Moving the jstick up or down didnt do anything. Ive tried everything i can think of and Im thinking reinstalling the game is the only way. What do you guys suggest?

I have a similar prob with my Saitek gamepad, i just have to keep reconfiguring the movement controls in the FFXI config tool, its bloody annoying, but i believe it may be an error with DX9.
One way i have found around it is to turn on the gamepad but not configure anything, but create a profile that maps the keys using my gamepad software.Teletubbie

I wouldnt waste money on a new gamepad, especially if its working fine with other games.
I think its the FF tool myself, but i have also heard rumours that its to do with Win XP, DX9 and FF as a whole package not just one of them causing the problemTeletubbie

Go out and buy yourself a Logitec Dual Action gamepad at your local Circuit City (or other electronics store, most have them). There only 20 bucks and I have very little problems with it. It does, however, have a bug where if you don't shut down your computer (if the power goes out, or you just kill the power) it's drivers may bug and you will have to re-install. But that's not a big issues. It's USB too, which is always nice.
And the default gamepad settings work nicely with it. I really recommend it for the price. The other idea's just sound like to much work for one game.
