  • Graphics Card Problems

I have been having a problem finding a graphics card for my comp so i can run FF XI on my comp. Right now i am sporting a 16 MB card which is really surprising since all the other specs for my comp are well above max standards. Does anyone know what kind of card i should buy and could they keep is withing the 70 dollar minus range, i know that seems kind of cheap but i dont have much money and i thought that if it was in that range my parents might buy it for me. Plz post anything helpful

Ugh, a currency issue again. Im going to assume thats 100-120AU, so, your options are a GeForce4 Mx440, Or an ATi9200.

Unless you want to go second hand, in which case its just a matter of luck

And a ATi 9200 for around AU 110

            9200 is 128 meg, MX440 is 64.

http://froogle.google.com/froogle?sc...&sa=N&start=10 Here is a link from www.froogle.com (google's experimentation for product searches) for the 9200 (start on this page, everything b4 it on page 1 is just unneeded). And here is the one for the GeForce4 line up. http://froogle.google.com/froogle?sc...&sa=N&start=10 You can find a TI4200 for 'bout 80, and it's better than the mx440 because the GeForce4 MX series is basically the GeForce2 series w/ the 4 in it's name instead of a 2 lol. Also, search here: http://www.buyxg.com for videocards. You can find very cheap stuff there. Even though this is out of your price range, if u could somehow doulbe your money, u could get a Radeon 9600 XT OEM for only 155 (180 for retail box) which is very cheap. So gl with wutever you find!

The 9200 SE is around 40-60, and the mx440 is 'bout 40-60 also if u didn't want to search through all of that.

Ti4200 is your best option if you want power vs performance. But it will break your $70 US Budget, which is why I suggested the two cards that I did

Oh and i HOPE you werent just paying out GeForce 2's

                    doesn't look too bad...

9000-9500 and ti 4200-4800 are good (i have the 64mb version ti 4200, i run ffxi in all max res, low compression on some textures, no bm or mip mapping though), though if you want a card that gives you almost no lag, go 9600xt (pro and xt are same msrp), or 9700-9800xt for above and beyond the capabilities of the game.

Dopple, he's in a $70-80 price range lol. So the former cards you mentioned are what he needs to go for.

If you can get a 9600xt/9800xt for $70 bucks, I tip my hat to you..

(Perhaps you might try building it yourself? Or taping two graphics cards together)
