FFXI Crashes.. about to quit

Every time I play this game.. it will freeze up an hour or so in the game. It is random, and it never really happened to me when I first got it. This is very annoying, and I think im gonna quit.. no groups want me because i keep crashing, and I can't seem to make any progress. Maybe this is a sign that I should just move on to other things in my life, may be for the better.

But really, this game was poorly translated to pc. Lots of new videocard technologies aren't even supported on this game, and yet the game still doesnt run up to par on my Raedon 9600.

The next game I get, will be built for PC, and not in favor of Nvidia

Vidcard brand/model/model #, slot type, how much ram is on the card.

How much ram you have

I just cancelled my account.. crashed during a fight.. I'm losing faith in square, seems like they are selling out ever since they went with enix

obviously agp slot, set at 4X. My mobo doesnt support 8X agp.

did you happen to get new video drivers (catylys) about a month ago. i only ask because there was horrible problems with those drivers ... i had 3-5 games that crashed to desktop during play after intalling those drivers. Update your drivers to the newest vid drivers and test the game again...

3.7 is supposed to run fine, so is 3.9 catalyst. the 3.8 seems to have a bug in it, so either go lower or higher driver... most suggest 3.7 because it supposibly runs better and cooler..

I remember installing the newest drivers a few months ago, not sure if they changed

I had this problem also it just stoped happening... maybe the same can happen to you.

im mad at my friend because he usually gets these whenever they are released, i never check the news.

my computer is fine.
its simply that squenix were sell outs and they went with nvidia.. so a totally inferior nvidia card could even score higher on the benchmarks. They didn't even test radeon cards. It was basically an exclusive nvidia testing. So yeah- it IS square's fault

the game could at least state that it does not support the radeon 9600 series, i know several people that have the same problem
