If a motherboard has
"RJ-45 Jack" under its "Peripherals" section

does that mean that there is an RJ-45 Jack on the Tower?

or do I have to buy an NIC?

I good percentage of newer MoBos have several OnBoard peripherals, such as onboard LAN, Audio, Network Serial, etc. If it's got an RJ45 on the motherboard, it more than likely has integrated LAN you can use to network...
